pool.........a sport or a game????

It is more than a sport or a game...it's pool.

It's one's own private solar system with planets to move about and energy to transfer and black holes to devour the asteroids that get in the way.

It is life and it is death. It is eclipses and it is the dark side.

It is being a creator of galaxies and quasars, laid out by the gods for us mere mortals to do what we will with them. It is Big bangs and lightning bolts.

It is love and it is peace, and it is happiness. It is a metaphor for growth and change.

It is more than a game or a sport, it's pool.

So while I was doing some research on the net I came across this press release. I think this quote makes a valid point:

"Given the growing ‘casual’ player base and decline in serious players, there is concern that billiards is perceived by the consumer as less of a sport and more of a social, recreational activity. With so many ‘casual’ players, billiards is susceptible to less media exposure."

Maybe this is why many don't precieve pool as a sport?

they sell super cheap cues in your local sporting goods store, but billiard equipment is usually sold in billiard stores that carry dart equipment and gambling paraphenalia. pool is a sport to everyone who follows it CLOSELY, but it is a game to the rest of the world.

it is what you want it to be.

Hey sjm, my avatar is from a magazine after I won a tournament. It says," It sure feels good to beat these guys,- sure, I'll be back, I'm a winner." John Morton, after beating Ernesto Dominguez and Ismael "Morro" Paez. It was a tournament from a tour they had for a year or so, called the Gold Rush Tour. Peace, John.
