Pool Ability Test

I looked at the first part of the PAT system. A free download is mentioned in this post. The introduction says it is a system to assess skills. Another paragraph says it is model for training programs. In reference to what Scott Lee says, in another paragraph it says under the guidance of their trainer start with the exercises using the book as a guide. The creators of the PAT system, if I understand it, are saying get a coach, teaching pro, or whomever will work with you and have them teach you the correct way to stroke. The skills in the PAT system are the drills you use to practice. If you work with someone like Scott he will help you develop a consistent reliable stroke. You can use the PAT sytem to practice and reinforce that stroke.

The trouble with most of the "obstacle course" testing schemes is that while some of them are EXCELLENT tests of skill, most do not have anywhere near large enough a large enough SAMPLE of testers to make the rank order of performance statistically reliable.

What I mean is that many such systems can detect who plays at a pro level but differentiating between A,B,C and D players breaks down pretty quickly due to a lack of a large enough number of reliable participants to evolve accurate ranking parameters.

Jim

PAT 1 and PAT 2 spreadsheets

I have been working with the Playing Ability Test (PAT) level 1 and 2 for a while
and one of my major complaints is the amount of math (arithmetic) involved in keeping score.

For that reason, I have programmed a couple of Excel spreadsheets to do all the work for me.

They are available on my blog at this link

Hope this helps you as much as it did me!

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to improve them.

A new guy from europe bought the licensing rights for PAT and will be making some canges to program.
at least what i heard...
