They're not a mix set, back in the day I guess they didn't put the line under the six. I've seen it on another ball collector's website the same way. Here's another style of standards. White numbers on the solid balls because black numbers don't show up so well on colors.

The new information cards have empty colored boxes and the text is spread over multiple columns.

Can I comment that the cards you posted years ago (like page 1 of this thread) look cleaner and are easier to read (to me)?

I believe Rubik said earlier he was planning to put extra photographs in those empty boxes, but posted the unfinished cards for suggestions and comments. I liked the old cards too, but am enjoying the extra info.

As Wolverine has already mentioned, those empty coloured boxes will eventually feature additional photographs of balls, boxes, and any other related items to the sets in question. I chose to post a few unfinished cards on the thread in the hope of getting some feedback… exactly like yours, dear chap.

I take on board your comment about previous cards being cleaner and easier to read, sir. I was very keen to include more detailed information on these updated versions, which I felt was lacking in earlier cards.

Alas, the impact of my recent contributions has suffered quite a lot from compression pixelation… rendering everything a bit fuzzy and blurred, especially the text. I will definitely address this problem and fathom a way to display the original high resolution image.

I do like where you're going with these cards as a book. Looking at two pages at once.

Now, the earlier cards might make a nice deck of playing cards size.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen.

Hard Knock Cues suggested that a coffee table book of rare and desirable pool ball sets would be an interesting project.

A few friends and I have been discussing the idea. I’d love it to come to fruition but am not kidding myself that our hobby is anything but a niche passion, dear reader… and therefore we are not expecting a bestseller here.

If we were able to produce a very professional product (which we would) I’m thinking sales in the region of 200 books at a retail price of perhaps $20 or thereabouts might be a reasonable ambition.

We’re speculating about 200 pages to the book featuring 100 ball sets on a double page per set… descriptive text on the left, glossy photographs on the right.

What say you?

I would absolutely buy a copy and probably some for friends as gifts. Especially if it had rules for the obscure games.

I am sorry for striding off topic, as my reply is not really about pool ball collecting. But as I read the last messages here, I thought I might share this in here anyway.

I am researching games now for over 2 years, and started to make a website for them. It currently holds over 520 games, which I grouped then into different groups. I show the table setup for the balls, give a brief description, and try to link all ressources I have (like websites, full rules, images of the balls).



This is not online so far, and nobody except me and my girlfriend saw it so far. But as it got quite extensive already, I was thinking about sharing it with the world. I just don't want to have legal problems with some of the rules or images I used for it. Some of it might be still copyrighted or IP infringement. So I have to carefully check everything. And I am not even sure, if there is big demand for this anyway, except maybe a few nerds within the community...

And yes, I know I got the Bobble Ball rules a bit wrong there. At least I don't show anything which I might not be allowed to in here
As mentioned, it is still under development, but the big bulk of the core is ready.

This question is not about ball, but related. I have a damaged box, and a few sets even without boxes. It‘s rather painfully for me, to not store them properly…



How do you handle this? Does anybody know a source, where I might be able to buy just empty boxes for balls? I know of the transport boxes and things like this, but I would prefer just a simple original box like this, nothing fancy…
