pool/billiards table at home and noise

Hi,

I am planning to buy a table pool or billiards table for home usage.

Apart from space considerations,one thing that bothers me is the noise that balls are expected to produce.

I will install the table into the dining room of my flat which is the third floor and there are one flat above me apart from the flats below me .

My neighbours above and below are old people.I do not want to disturb them

I am planning to play mostly at evening and even at night .

Are my concerns for noise exaggaretad or if not so,are there precautions to prevent the problem totally or alleviate the noise.

Should I install isolation material onto the walls or is a much simpler solution avalaible?

Unless the floors are really paper thin I wouldn't expect any problems. If I close the door to my pool room the balls can't be heard in the rest of my house. One thing you should do is have carpet or some sort of tile that will cushion balls that fly off the table. The only noise you will have to worry about is a ball hitting the floor. Balls will not produce as much noise as t.v. or music or you know the other favorite activity.
 
The break is LOUD, much louder than we realize, and it is very likely to be disturbing to your neighbors. I have a fairly large house and the break will wake up my wife in our bedroom on the lower floor. Consequently, I don't break when practicing during the late hours.

When pricticing late, I'll either spread the balls randomly for 8 or 9-ball practice, or work on drills that do not require a break. If you want to play real games with someone, that's going to be more of a problem.

That said, I think the break is the only frequenty occuring shot that will be heard.

I just had my pool table installed in my apartment and I have neigbors directly below and beside me. I haven't heard any complaints. Though I do refrain from breaking if its past 9 or 10 pm, just in case.
