Pool chalk

Considering only the amount of applied English, this statement is true as Dr. Dave has shown. But it is demonstrably false for cleanliness, including chalk residue on the cue ball and resulting kicks. That’s one of the reasons the “new” chalks are preferred in snooker. The same holds true for pool.

Taom has a sponsorship deal with world snooker tour.
That's the reason they plug it.

Silly response. Sponsorship is disconnected from any issue anyone raised. Taom has fewer kicks regardless of sponsorship opportunities. [put differently, your prior statement that the differences are minimal is still valid from a tip offset perspective but also still invalid from cleanliness and kick perspective.]

I don't experience any more or less skids or kicks between taom(green or blue) vs masters. The only time I seem to catch a skid is when the balls are freshly polished and/or when using a high cueball at slow speeds.

Do you experience something different or are you just regurgitating something you heard from a commentary or sponsored pro?

Taom still leaves marks on the cueball and cloth just like any other chalk.
Don't be silly

No one is making the pro snooker players use it. Almost all of them do and very few are sponsored.

Indeed even non-sponsored players have complained about the mess caused by the few hold outs. If you watch snooker (as I do) you can clearly see the difference - there are many visible chalk marks on the table when Ronnie is playing with his Triangle and none when others are playing with Taom.

Have you actually played with Taom? If so, maybe you came across some counterfeit stuff (sadly it’s out there and it doesn’t perform like the real stuff).

When I’m playing someone who is using Taom or Pagulayan (like I do), the CB at the end of a rack looks clean. When I’m playing someone with Masters, if they run out the CB has many visible blue marks on it. This isn’t just my experience - Dr Dave’s testing shows the Masters CB marks compared to Taom.

These are the only two I have. Are they fake? I don't know how to tell.

Dr. Dave has collected and presented empirical data and video for many years. This is knowable information for anyone that actually desires to understand it. Your anecdotal evidence is factually irrelevant unless it was done scientifically and presented for review.

To be honest, I'm not sure why I am continuing to present meaningful information here when you refuse to acknowledge actual data. What's the old saying about arguing with...

As I continue to state: your position on tip offset is valid. Your position on cleanliness and kicks is invalid. If you have any verifiable information to the contrary, I'm happy to consider it. But so far, it's just your keyboard.

[edit: I went ahead and did a search for the relevant information: https://drdavepoolinfo.com/faq/throw/cling/ Continuing to ignore the universe of information available to you will speak volumes.]

All I can say is that I used the taom I had. I tried two colors. It was fine. Maybe it was fake, I have no clue. Next time it was time to buy chalk I grabbed a masters gross.

I didn't like the shape and cost.
I didn't have to worry about losing one down a pocket.
All the pool halls I frequent use masters.
If somebody walks off with my chalk, no problem.
I have enough to probably last my lifetime.
The cleanliness aspect was not different enough for me to care.

My favorite cube of Masters I found behind a spittoon in Johnston City in 1966, used by Wimpy, he dropped it and didn't see where it went....but I did and made a bee line for it when nobody was watching. Used it now for 60 years and it looks like brand new. it is amazing stuff. never miscued either, Wimpy put the magic mojo on it.

Wanna buy it?? its for sale, 14 grand is what I figure its worth these days.

J. Wellington Wimpy? Can I pay you next Tuesday?

If you don’t like the circular shape of TAOM, just substitute the cube version branded under Pagulayan’s name.
The reason I haven’t played with the cube TAOM chalk, i.e., Pagulayan, is because my original piece of TAOM
Is still going strong and I like to see how long it can last. I’ve been using it for 16 months & it will last at least 6
more months so that’s 2 years using the same piece of chalk. TAOM is the best pool chalk presently available.

Got to play 4 games of One Pocket today, only HAD ONE MISCUE, it was shot I did not apply CHALK before the shot.

My Chalk today it the same PIECE of GREEN Silver Cup I have been using the last SIX MONTHS., IMHO Chalk is Chalk, to me my got to Chalks are Master, Silver Cup, or Triangle, or the REVERSE Master, Silver Cup, Triangle ALL IN GREEN. IMHO if you apply Chalk between each short it gives to time to tink also.

Super Chalks are like the Super Shaft / Super Tip Debate, maybe when you can run as many balls as willie Mosconi with NORMAL EQUIPMENT, you might need the Super Shaft, Tip, or Chalk, in the mean time investing time & money into build skill, not buy tool that are never going to make the average player into some World class player.

BTW the Pro Players who are HYPING Super Stuff they use or either getting it for free to use, or getting it for free to use, and a nice endorsement check to make pimping stuff a business with money on the line for being Pool Equipment Pimp.

I am old school or at least old. Joss cue, wood shaft, no glove, blue Masters (until recently). After noticing how much chalk residue was left on my table from Masters chalk I switched to Taom and I think the chalk residue has been reduced by about 95%. Everything is so clean and of course it plays just fine with less chalking needed. So that is what I recommend. Buy one piece and see how you like it.

That's one I haven't tried. I'll give it a go.
