pool & dedication

I play because my mind is on vacation while the cue is in my hand.Tthe couple of hours i spend each day doing this are most valuable. What more could one possibly ask!

I can relate to what you're saying Billy. When I'm practicing, everything else, including problems or issues evaporate after just a few moments on the table. It's a lot cheaper than therapy and much more productive imho.

My brother is a lawyer. Most of them do not work 9-5 ie 40 hour jobs. many of them book 60-70 hours a week. But, hey, at least you could support yourself and still enjoy the game

60 to 70 hours a week? That really sucks. I want a 6 figure income but I don't want that.

Laura,

I think if you're a lawyer and you start working for a private firm, you will work many hours in pursuit of that partner status. It can be a rough haul but the rewards at the end of the journey can be astronomical. I think that's what motivates many attorneys to throw away their early adhulthood.

Blackjack, I second Larry's words of praise regarding your posts and how helpful you are on this forum. Thank you for all the great information you've provided. And, I too hope that your health is good and that you'll continue to share your wisdom on this great game!

Rick is right. Blackjack, you've given all of us alot of great information on pool. You don't have to do that but you do anyway. Thanks

You know I kinda value my young adulthood. I just wanted to a lawyer because of the money.

Matthew,

Like I suggested before, get a job with the state after you graduate from law school. You might not become rich but you'll be comfortable and you'll still have time for pool.

Most of the time i get confused. i dont know if im a poolplayer or a doctor. I seem to love pool more! if only i would put the same amount of dedication to my true profession, or even close to the dedication i give to pool, im sure i'd be a much better doctor. sometimes all i think about is pool! i guess a lot of people can relate to this. I cant see myself having this sport as my carreer, i just love to play to the level pros play(or even close to it). All athletes who ever excelled in any sport, who was able to built a name and made their mark in the sporting world, started playing very young. They never did anyhting but play the game. it is just fair that they play to the highest level. In my case, i have to go on with my profession so i could hav money to play this game that we love.
