Pool Flu

Anyone out there have this virus. Do you suffer with restlessness or unable to perform basic daily functions until you have a cue in your hand standing over a table.

How many hours can you practice before you bore or how long can you play before you stop? For me 3 hours straight of practice and then I need a half hour break. This break can be a match or watching pool (TV). I can practice all day with breaks. Playing an opponent I can start when the room opens until they close. Pool videos I can watch that same video hundreds of times.

I can only play approx. 5 hours practice weekly and maybe 5 hours with opponent. So this leaves most of my waking moments suffering.

Anyone else…

I have the bug REAL bad. 30 min from where I live there is a pool hall that has $6 flat rate. The longest I have played was 14 hrs practice no break, matches just banging balls for 14 hrs. most often though if I practice by myself i will play for about 8-9 hrs without breaks. After my practice sessions I ache real bad.

Regards

I dont have much time qnymore with a new job i started. But I used to play 10-12 hours, then come home and watch tapes will i crashed out. I would have to take a day off becuase my shoulder would start cramping up or my bridge fingers would be really sore.

i have it bad.........i normally play 4 to 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, every week.................except this time of year- TAX SEASON!!! Im an accountant and im forced to completely give up the game for 3 months every year, i will sneak a saturday night in here or there but to go from 25 hours of week of pool to 1 or 2 if im lucky hurts. And of course im always shooting at the very top of my game right before i have to quit lol, never fails. Im hoping with pool school under my belt now it wont take me as long as usual to get back into form once april 15th passes.

LOL, not married either, but Im looking for a REALLY understanding girlfriend. When I get interested in something i can be insufferable. I taught guitar for a number of years. In order to get to that level of ability I used to practice 4-5 hrs a day. So this is nothing new for my friends and family.

If I miss the same shot or safety more than once in a match, well, look out practice. I lost a hill/hill match last year to Tony Crosby after leading 8-4. I scratched trying to get perfect shape. I could have stopped the CB playing a harder cut however; I missed that type of shot early to give Tony a 2-0 lead. When I lost I drove 9 hours to get home and went to a pool hall and practiced that shot and shape. This is a regular occurrence. If I lose, I have a hard time going straight home without practicing shots that I remember missing. If I win, I can usually wait until the next day.

You gotta meet your wife in a pool room like I did:) It's the only way to play as much as you want without getting hollard at! She understands the addiction.....plus she loves to play bank pool, and I got the go ahead for the pool room at the house here....as long as I put in a hot tub. No probs...I've been a plumber for 20 years...

Well I have the BUG to the Point I am DRIVEN to practice, practice, and practice to the point of PISSING OFF people I use to play with. but they play at a lower level than me. So I know I can gain more by practicing by myself than play them. My mission this yes is to elevate my Game (1) Point in our Local Rating System. Hell the last (2) time I played my od instructor I beat him at 8 BALL. He is a good instructor, but never was a TOP PLAYER....

My secret is: I go play on my lunch hour everyday. Somedays i just practice
and sometimes a freind of who is a retired Pool room owner is there to play 9 Ball with. He is a great player and really help's me with my game. I work really close to where i play. Then on weekend's i try and get all the stuff done around the house and go play for a few hours on a saturday or sunday
late afternoon sometimes. As far as the watching the video's mostly i get a chance to do that on long holiday weekend's.:)

Im trying, Im trying, but since I started frequenting pool halls I have not seen many women come in to play pool. When they do, its usually with a boyfriend, husband, family member or a friend of theirs. Not really oppurtunities to meet anyone *sigh*.

Buy a table. If you own a table you dont have to go out that much for practice, which means technically you are still at home with the wife. :D

Technically... lol

I hear ya man! The first time I saw my wife was at an exhibition by Willie Mosconi at a new room opening up in about 1993. She got to play Willie a rack of 9ball and won!....I said, I'm gonna marry that girl!!

Cool thing is we have her match with Willie on tape...

Gerry

I think what I'll have to do is find a girl and try and develop her interest. First I'll say "lets watch the hustler its a great love story girlie movie". Hopefully that can get the ball rolling.
