I watched a guy, road player, come in and start playing last pocket 8 ball. The guy was an artist. He'd maneuver his balls and the 8 ball to one corner and let the other guy run out his balls and this guy would run the two or three balls around his corner and then sink the 8. He was a master at it. His wife or girlfriend sat on a chair all day and knitted while he played.
He also played some 9 ball and he'd miss the pocket he apparently was going for, go two rails and the ob would go into another pocket and he'd say something like, "Man I can't hit the broad side of a barn. I really got lucky." This guy had action all day long and never lost and no one ever got out of line with him. He not only hustled at the game, but he hustled the players too. I learned a lot that day!
