I will be travelling to NY from 25th Sept to 9th Oct.

Anyone around who wants to play?

I am searching for pool halls around the hotel that I am staying and there are quite a few. Any good recommendation?

Amsterdam billiards is a really good place and you may even meet some movie stars etc. Tony Robles is the house pro there last I knew and a awesome guy to boot. Pricey there but so is all of NY..GL

Too bad you can't stick around until October 14, Mika and Shane Van Boening will be playing for 10K at Amsterdam Billiards; no, not 9-ball league money. :-)

Staying in Manhattan, I recommend Amsterdam Billiards and Society Billiards. Very good equipment, and staff that cares about pool.

9-Ball leagues are in full swing on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings at Society Billiards, and same for Thursdays and Fridays at Amsterdam Billiards. Monday night is straight pool league night at Amsterdam. You may not be able to get a table on league nights, but if you hang around after the league finish, there should be lots of good players.

If you're willing to take the trip out of Manhattan, there is Tuesday night tournament at Skyline and Friday night tournament at Masters in Queens .

Cool, sounds happening there!

thanks for the info guys!

I think i will hang around Amsterdam Billiards on 10th Sept. Just smack my shoulder if anyone recognizes me haha.

You should come out to Long Island. I will be covering the Ozone/Olhausen Billiards Classic Tour on Sept 30th starting with $1,000 added One Pocket and finishing with $3,000 added 9 ball. Low entry fees and a lot of talent.

I don't know if you're looking to play in the daytime or evenings. Like someone said, Amsterdam can be hard with all the leagues in the evenings.

But in the daytime, right now Amsterdam has a pretty good deal going (I think because of the new competition from Society). You can get the powerplay for $15, which means you can get a table from 11am - 5pm, any number of people, flat rate.

Society does a powerplay as well, can't remember the exact details, it was a bit more money, but it ran until even later, I seem to recall. Nice place as well, can recommend both.
