Ted,

I am paying more for that at the Day's Inn, but my info is back at my office. I'll talk to John and see what he can do at this late point in time for the event.

And don't worry, you'll always have nuts from me. I'll never forget what you did for me in 1996 at Las Vegas. :D

Oi! Don't worry about that reference, it was a gracious thing you did in your overloaded work state - your cleaned my wrap on my old Palmer so it wouldn't make dirty marks on my white tuxedo shirt very early on a Tuesday morning. Thank you.

Barbara
The $89- + tax rate is all he can do at the Holiday Inn Express.
What did I do in 1996 in Las Vegas? I must be getting old or something. Tell me again!

JAM,

I called there the other day for a room rate for a JPNEWT tourny on August 20th/21st. You could've picked my jaw up off the floor - $350 a night for a water view room, $300 for the other side!

Tell me what kind of rate did you got and what time of the year that was!

Barbara

It was in the fall, Barbara, when we stayed there, maybe after Labor Day or the beach tourist season. We got a golf course view as opposed to the water view room, and if you book two nights, it was $129 per night. At that time, the Holiday Inn was $99 as was the Days Inn. I thought for 30 bucks more per night, I'm going first class and checking out this Hyatt joint on the water! :p

After the sun went down, they had a fire going outside where folks were roasting marshmellows, graham crackers, and chocolate. In the bar, there was a small trio playing soft music. During the day, there is a full spa with everything, the works, even a pedicure by appointment. The restaurant changes its menu depending on the season, and I was in heaven when I saw that Starbucks right there on site. :D

We were there another time on Mother's Day and paid $149 per night for an off-water view. I do not like paying that much for a hotel room, but the Chesapeake Grant Hyatt Regency is the exception to the rule. If you are able to get a "good" rate sometime down the road, do check it out. I'd go there again, pool tournament or no pool tournament, just to relax and enjoy being pampered!

Well that rate is pretty damn good, so I'll take that!

Okay, 1996 was my first year at the BCA Nats in Vegas. I only went for the Singles event as there is no BCA league near me.

I'm playing with old Palmer that vibrates up my arm but that's all I had at the time and the wrap is dirty and makes dirt marks on the white shirts I used to like to wear when I play. Anyway, it's the last day of Singles competition on Tuesday morning. I have made it into the final 64 undefeated so I want to wear a formal shirt with the tuxedo vest my hubby bought me the Christmas before - the Tazmanian Devil vest. But I know that the wrap is dirty and will rub off my shirt due to how I used to shoot across my chest at the time and I tried to clean the wrap off the night before, but to no satisfaction.

This is where you come into play. You are still working your stand at 8 am Tuesday morning. I ask for you to clean the wrap and you just do it. I even think I bribed you with money, but you stopped working on what you were doing and did it. I didn't deserve this, you had a ton of work going on.

So I went two more rounds before ending up tied for 17th with my newly cleaned wrap.

Then I saw you at VF and gave you some nuts.

There ya go.

If you are looking for an awesome poolroom, check out Great Slates in Cambridge. It is about 55 miles to the west. You can stop on your way in to check it out. IMHO, it is one of the nicest pool rooms in America, and certainly has the best food of any in America. Make sure to try the awesome desserts. The address is 738 Cambridge Plaza, which is right on Route 50 on your way to OC. The phone number is 410.901.2720. Ask for the owner John Moody. Make sure to tell Ben at Pirate's Den and John at Great Slates I sent you.
I made it to Great Slates a little after 9 pm. The drive out wasn't too bad & crossing over the Bay Bridge (1st time) as it was getting dark was awesome. John wasn't in yet but the band was starting to play. I found a seat at the bar and checked the place out while the band was playing. It really is a nice place with a little bit for everyone.... bar...dinner tables...pool tables...video games. It definitely has a club atmosphere on the weekends but it's not crowded and overtly loud as clubs usually are. John arrived and I introduced myself and thanked him for checking into the rooms as Ted had so graciously asked him to do for me. Since my day started @ 5am I was pretty tired and left around 11pm. I still didn't have a room but figured my best chance was to head back west towards Easton. John was very kind and said that if I couldn't find a room to come back & he would make sure that he found me one somewhere. (I got one of the last 2 rooms at the Days Inn in Easton)

Saturday was AWESOME. I had a wonderful breakfast at this little diner in the back of a very old drug store, which used to be the old soda jerk back in the day. It was a little overcast which turned out to be perfect. I spent the whole day shopping in little boutiques and shops in downtown Cambridge, the historic downtown Easton, and the most adorable little town called St. Michaels which I had found by accident as I was just driving around. Main st in St. Michaels is probably a mile maybe a mile & a 1/2 long. Both sides are lined with little locally owned shops ranging from clothes to antiques. As my luck would have it, I arrived just in time for crabfest days... bus loads of people had crowded this beautiful little town. I shopped up one side & down the other. Then I had a delicious seafood lunch along the bay at the crab claw. I had to freshen up a little & then went back to Great Slates where I attempted to play pool (UGH). I had a wonderful blackend tuna steak for dinner, watched the band, and then called it a night.

I had such a great time that I've decided to do it again... next time will also be to a place that I've never been... Atlantic City. Ya'll start thinking of places that I can go check out while I'm there. I'm not sure when I'm going but it will be fairly soon. Thanks again for everyone's help & idea's!
