before i get to what the title is about i would like to give you a lil background about this particular pool hall.
i lived here 15 years before i knew this place existed. you know the type of place or heard of them. old run down bldg. not exactly the best area of town. no juke box, just 1 tv that you cant see from the playing area and just has 2 chairs in front of it.
owned by an old man that upon 1st impression you would say is grumpy and set in his ways but once you get to know him you find out he is an ok kinda guy. his help was rude and obnoxious. i have been going there about 5 years now and he sponsers my money league team. the lasy 2 years have been rough on him financially and he put the place up for sale. hasnt had any luck selling it.
about 2 months ago he asked my gf to work part time. he wound up getting rid of the bad help and putting her on full time. the place has slowly started doing better because my gf is a people person and was getting the people that were coming in to bring their friends. he has started talking about if it continues improving he wont sell it.
now to what the title is about.
today before my gf and i went to another pool hall where we play apa she was on the computer printing out flyers. i asked her whats up. she said her boss does no advertising and she was going to hand out flyers tonite about his ladys free night. i told her that sounded like something she oughta ask about 1st because that is his competitor. she said ok.
well the 2nd room owner is a real personable guy. he always walks around shaking every ones hand welcoming them. when he comes up to us she asks him about handing out the flyers . he said sure, anything to help the other owner out ( they do know each other ). i didnt think he would have a problem but i was suprised he seemed happy to do it. he said to put one on the board and also some on the counter also besides handing them out to the players.
what really got me was that he also had flyers hanging around advertising another pool halls upcoming tournament for next month.
i am so used to competitors cutting each others throat. whats your thoughts ? sorry to be so long winded here :grin:
