Pool in the French Quarter

I'm heading to New Orleans today for a few days of partying with family and friends. We will be staying in the Marigny district, which is a few blocks walk from the French Quarter. I won't have a car.

Any recommendations for where (eg a bar) to play pool for a few hours?

Saw your post just before heading out to the pool room but I just don't know of any bars that have pool tables in the quarter. Sorry.

Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA is the player's pool room. 3624 Airline Drive. open 24/7.

There may be a few left

When I lived in NOLA 15 years ago there were a couple of bars with pool tables. One was near the penthouse club, a couple of blocks off of bourbon street. It was a strip bar and some of the girls could actually play decent. There was another place off of ST. Anns that had a couple of pool tables. There was one place right on bourbon street that had pool tables and even had tournaments from time to time but I did not see it the last time I was there which was before the storm. I think if you ask a couple of cops, there are alot of cops in the quarter, and taxi drivers about pool tables in a bar, I figure there should be something in the quarter.

Things have changed so much since Hurricane Katrina. I'm sure you can find a coin table if you ask a bar tender or waiter/waitress.

There used to be a free home type table in the bar next to the Hilton on Poydras at the river across from Harrah's Casino, call first & ask the Concierge.

They opened a nice 'new' hall in the OLD Rock & Bowl location on Carrollton Ave. @ Tulane Ave. I think it's called Shananagin's. Other than a cab I guess the best way to get there would be to take the Canal St. Street Car to Carrollton Ave. & then walk 'right' down Carrollton to the Shopping Ctr. It's upstairs. It's a 6 block walk.

PM me if you want with your details. I do not know what my schedule is until I check with my executive assistant (My Wife). I might be able to pick you up & we can go the Shananagin's. I have not even been there yet.

Great call Joey! 30 minutes off the plane my dad and I were in Buffalo Billiards. Big crowd today watching the Saints game. Huge free pizza Buffett and dollar bottled beer. My kind of place.

We played a few games of 15/1 8-ball. It's a game my dad used to play in the 60's and I like it. It's 8 ball but the 1 has to pocket in the right side and the 15 in the left side. If it goes anywhere else it's spotted and you keep shooting. Adds an interesting strategic element.
