Sounds like a nice room if you find yourself in central Iowa:
"Longtime pool enthusiasts Randy Hanson and Marc Oelslager have brought big city-style pool and billiards to Des Moines' east side. Known as Big Dog Billiards, the 18,000-square-foot space is the largest billiard center in central Iowa, said Hanson.

Big Dog Billiards boasts 47 tables, league play for all ages and abilities, and a separate, nonalcoholic beverage section for families."

Sounds like an awesome room. I'll be interested to hear what Jeff has to say about it. The only thing I question is the location. I lived in Des Moines for about 5 yrs when I was a kid & if I remember correctly, the East Side was the roughest side of town. It's been a long time & things can change drastically. The town in SC that I grew up in is very different. I was 13 or 14 when I moved away from Des Moines. Jeff, am I remembering correctly that the east side was the rougher of the four? I don't mean rough like being scared to drive over there, I just mean in relative terms to the N, S, & W sides. West side was where the money was!

Good news for ChefJeff. Now he can use that shot Jennifer Barretta showed him in Peoria to make a little dough on his home turf!

You've got it just about right as far as DM's "sides."

The pool room is just off the freeway so it really doesn't matter what side of town you're on, it's convenient to get there. As far as I know, there hasn't been any big trouble there.

I used to play on the oldest league in town, the "City League." It started, and still exist exclusively, on the east side in 1968 or so and uses bar rules with no ball in hand, etc. It paid the best for winning it than any other league though. But it drags down one's game if you know what I mean.

Come to town and let's play,

I told her that if I won by using it in a money game, I'd pay her half. She just smiled.

Can not IMAGINE a place with 47 Tables, our Room where I live has 29, and seems bigger than a Foot Ball Stadium to me... :)
