Pool is strong in Palm Harbor, FL

I couldn't get the kitchen pass to go snapper fishing this last Sunday, so I finished my honey do list and decided to go hit a few balls instead. I've been fishing the last few weeks and haven't picked up a cue in what seems like a month, so to try something different I went up to Strokers thinking it would be dead on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. To my surprise the place was absolutely packed! Every table was taken and another half dozen or so folks were drinking at the bar. It was a fantastic atmosphere with a very nice girl behind the bar so I had a couple of Corona's and pushed balls into the rails. I'm not a fan of those Diamond red tables but it was good to see the place packed with what looked like hard core pool fans.

So it appears pool has been saved. At least for this weekend.

i have 2 poolhalls near me and both have 1 9ft table each ... its a volture situation ... everyone watching and waiting for table availability

so annoying ... i dont play much pool anymore ... have to drive 2 hours away for any hope of playing on a 9ft table ..

I hear that for me it's just over 2 hours of drive time both ways to play on a 4 1/2 x 9 if I had a membership .
Damn. That’s a good reason to get a table, but it’s just not the same without competition. If I drove that far I would just get a room and make a trip out of it.

The red labels notwithstanding, Strokers is a great place. 👍

Sadly I don't get up that way very often.

Same thing over here in Central Florida. The decent rooms are always hopping.

Generally blue labels here too. 😊
I used to spend a good bit of time at Strokers when it was North of the current spot and owned by Mel and Neil. I fished with those guys a few times and had some fun playing one pocket with Mel. I think Jose still owns the new place but I could be wrong. He’s a good guy and has done a great job offering good food, plenty of booze and, at least Sunday, a cute girl who was extremely good at her job. Maybe there’s a gold crown somewhere in there I missed.

That's true David the blue ribbon trout stream is a mile away from the house .
But I'd rather go fishing for walleye's ha ha trout are to easy to catch normally, the creeks rather high with run off .

I walked into my local grocery store last weekend and they actually had fresh, never frozen, walleye fillets!

I've never seen them down here.

Needless to say I grabbed a nice one. Phenomenal!

A little butter and garlic salt in the frying pan until they just start to flake / fall apart then enjoy this works for crappie as well .

Yep, but for walleye, bluegill, crappy, etc, I'm a fried guy.

Twice dredged with a simple egg wash and seasoned flour.

Not much more than a minute on each side. Steak fries (chips) or oven roasted potatoes, and homemade tartar sauce.

I'll prepare some pretty involved fish/seafood dishes on occasion, but If there's a better fish dinner anywhere than simple fried walleye, I don't know what it is!

Yes Jose owns the current Strokers and is as nice as they come. Actually there are 3 gold crowns there, two diamonds and the rest robertsons. Don’t know the story about that lol. Girl behind the bar was probably Ross and yes she is as good as they come.
