The event producer. I saw somebody compete in overalls with nothing underneath at Derby City one year and all I could think was "I hope no potential sponsor of pro pool is here today." How players present themselves affects potential sponsorship in pool.
He forgot his Wheat Straw that day and thot he was underdressed.

As for tattoos , I'm ink free I figure I've got enough surgery scares and cuts and scratches that have healed up that I've gotten from a lifetime of hard work , I'll be damned if I'll pay someone to add to it
Hallelujah and lay your hand upon the radio! I get a kick out of you Rusty.

I’ll never trust a guy who has a handshake without callouses.

Funny thing aboot the tattoos. There was a time I really wanted one. I remember my best friend got one at some house party and acted like he got a deal on it; when the dude was prolly stoned or drunk. That is fine but not when I’m paying you to place a permanent picture on my body.

Anyway, I would have probably gotten a Guns’N’F’N’Roses tattoo across my stomach and it would be all distended and shit now.

Gotta love a gal all sleeved out on those legs. 😘👊🏻

Funny thing is I don’t give a rats ass what people think of my tattoos, none of them have any real meaning to me either lol.

They are just a form of art I enjoy-I always have. I don’t act differently because I have them, I’m not crafting an image trying to look like something I’m not. That’s all way too deep for me. They are just art, nothing more or less.

Never understood why some ppl get so emotional about a little ink. I’m the same guy I was before I had tattoos, I got my first one 30 years ago.

If a person whose personality changes because they got tatted up, that person needs a shrink with a full season package of tickets to get their head screwed in properly.

Fatboy<———making the world a better place one tattoo at a time…..🤣😂
Some people aren't comfortable in their own skin. Usually the ones who want to give you advice, tell you about what their tattoo means, who their artist is bala bala bala

Same can be said for those with GAS (Gear aquisition syndrome) - think a magic shaft is going to change their game, that they can see which piece of the puzzle you need in your game etc

Same can be said of so many types of people haha

Sad thing is in modern life, no one is comfortable being themselves and most need to spend hours telling you all about who, what, where, why they are the way they are just to add something to their otherwise pointless existence

Working in a foreign country, I see this play out on steroids when surrounded by expats

Why I spend a lot of time playing with headphones in 🤣

My mother would roll over in her grave knowing I got some Tramp Stamps after she passed.
A very judgemental woman, tattoos were for the lower classes in her opinion.
I treasure the one of my wife's face. Dude did an incredible job w it.
The others, just conversation pieces more than anything. Expensive ones at that. Not trying to make a statement or have an agenda, my inks are things I like that are personal to me.

I'm actually in the "jersey" camp... I'm all for having players look like "players" and not someone who tossed on the best smelling pile found on their floor before hunting for change to pay the bus driver. That said, I do prefer the more reserved options rather than noisy crap some vendors push to the masses.

I bought a couple of "jerseys" before the Open last year. I wanted to at least somewhat look like a belonged before someone saw me strike a ball...lol

I do wear them otherwise, if I'm going out of town to play in something. I have a couple of people that make a habit of making my pool expenses more manageable. In return I footed the bill to advertise them on my jerseys. Makes me feel special...lol

My mom didn’t have an issue with my tattoos. My dad had all the WW2 ink on both arms and one hand. She married him, so I’d guess that wasn’t a deal breaker 20 years before I showed up, she was cool with it.

To me tattoos are just normal, maybe because I’ve been around them my entire life. They certainly didn’t define my dad. He never spoke of the war or his tattoos. My uncle was also in WW2 and had zero tattoos. I asked him why not? He said they weren’t for him. I respect that as well

I’ve never judged anyone for lack of tattoos or having tattoos. I suppose you could question one’s judgment if you hate them and the other person is covered. But imo that’s a very weak and superficial way to judge the content of a persons character. There are better ways to get better reads on someone.

For those who use tattoos to create an image or a gang advertisement then yes there can be a bit of a read there as the tattoos are billboards for something deeper.

My ink has zero meaning and aren’t an advert for anything, it’s pretty clear when you see them it’s just pictures. I didn’t give it much thought. And after decades of having them they kinda fade away from thinking about them. I haven’t got any work done since 2017 +/- a year. Took about 25 years to get what I have, I never rushed into them.

This is spot on. The top 2 look nice.

Depends...

Pro's, certainly. But that doesn't mean one has to look like a bowler on Wednesday beer-league night. But thank God the black vests and bow-ties are loooong gone. As a former pro mogul skier, we HAD to wear several sponsorship logos, but that didn't mean our ski clothing came from the circus.

For amateurs, certainly not. I can't even stand to see those "Hustlin'" shirts or "Shoot balls, not people" T shirts in our local rooms. They scream "I play 8 ball pool" and personally, I can't wait to beat your sorry ass in rotation or one pocket - a game you've probably never even watched, much less played. It's almost like sports jerseys. Tell me how a real man ENJOYS wearing another man's name on his back?

Oh God, here comes the haters.
Real men only wear the ones with their own name on them.
I have 5. 😂

Well said.

I don't feel comfortable wearing the tie. It gets in the way of my cue action.

So, I feel like-it's not to make excuses-but a lot of my misses are because the tie is in the way ...because I cue the ball so flat.

I happen to believe that what I wear should be age and physique appropriate. I'm too old and too fat for those jerseys. And I don't like seeing/watching people in them who obviously don't belong in them either. It is too much of a distraction for me.

As far as the tattoos, I think that is an age thing. Growing up, tattoos were for WWII veterans, bikers, convicts, some Pacific Islanders, and circus performers. I will never unsee it that way. But I understand that times change and tattoos no longer really have any meaning whatsoever, other than you obviously have way too much money for your own good.
