Anyone know of a pool league in the Belleville area? I am looking to sign up. I am a novice at the game but would like to get into a league to get better.

Suggest you go to the local pool room/bar and ask them. It will get you started.
There are 4 Leagues in or around Belleville. 3 are ran out of Mr. Zed's Billiards in the downtown and 1 out of Stix & Stones Billiards in Trenton. All league info can be seen at Mr. Zed's and the leagues available are as follows.
Monday = CPA 8 Ball (New this year) (Started Aug. 13)
Tuesday = Belleville & District 8 Ball (Starts Sept. 4)
Wednesday = Scotch Doubles 8 Ball (Start Approx. Sept. 5)
Thursday = Trenton 8 Ball (Start Approx. Sept 3 or 10)
Also there is normally a monthly 9 Ball tournament with the first one starting on Sept. 15 @ Mr. Zed's. If you happen to be looking to get tips installed, Shaft work done, or purchase cues/cases talk to G&J Cue Repair & Sales. Prices and info posted at Mr. Zed's or speak to the owner there Peter.

Are any of the leagues for some one newer to the game?
The CPA league due to there hcp system is ideal for new players. But it only has 5 or 6 teams due to it being new. The Tuesday night league is for all players and has been running for many years. It's a fun Hcp'd league with 22 teams of 5 to 8 players per team. There are sign up sheets at Zed's for whole teams and also individual players. It is a traveling league around the city and also to Trenton. All levels of players play and everybody has a great time.

My only concern is that some of the guys I could get to form a team are shift workers. So we would'nt I don't think be able to get all the guys out week to week. Would likely always have one or two missing every 3rd week. Is like 4 people play per team and rest are for occasional team members?
Whats the cost for a team and I will ask a few people. And then head down to Zeds for the forms and sign up.
