Pool league sucks this year (so far) :(

My team fell apart last year (personality conflicts, not wanting to play, etc). A teammate & I found another team who was desperate for 2 players.....I agreed to play w/o meeting the team.

They are ok.....one lady on the team I do not click with at all....our team got KILLED last Wednesday by another top team, it was not enjoyable at all. I've pondered just quitting team, or just telling them I will sub only....but hate to back out on my teammate from last year.

At points I've just pondered quitting leagues altogether....it also seems that there is a "clique", and if you're not part of that "clique", you're on the outside looking in. The team we played on Wed. was definitely part of the "clique".

Pool league teams are social constructs, more than anything, I think. You can't put people together who don't get along and expect them to work together worth a damn.

Me, I've got a great APA team - had the same basic roster for the past two years. Everyone gets along great, and we do well, because the better folks want to help the weaker folks, and we cheer each other on, etc.

Don't quit. You've made acommitment to play, so play. Start looking around now and recruit some players to form a new team next session,
even if you find new players that truly want to play and compete. It's very possible to win yet not have a good time if you are with certain people and yet you can lose and have a great time if you are with the right people.

as slanidrac says its all about attitude and vibes I played on a team where we had fun and enjoyed playing then the captain became a a-hole when we started doing well and he destroyed the vibe on the team and every one hated him and hated to play for him ! More importantly, you made a commitment not only for yourself but to your teamates and that is worth a lot !
