You sent the e-mail to the wrong entity. ESPN has NOTHING to do with the taping and/or commentary in pool matches they broadcast.

The PROMOTERS of the events hire and pay all the production-related people. All ESPN does is provide air time during which the events are broadcast.

And the promoters get only a portion of the ad time to sell for their own profit. ESPN sells the rest of the time for their profit.

If the promoters wanted to pay double the production costs to deliver 2 hour instead of 1 hour programs, ESPN would be fine with that. But that is not happening because viewership is too low to come anywhere CLOSE to justifying that expense.

NOTE: The above applies to the U.S. I don't know how ESPN's non-US deals work.
