Pool On TV Today

You sure that's a bar box? I don't think it is and I think there were some run outs. A lot of good safeties were played between these four as well.

It was played on Diamond's new product: a 9-foot bar box :D

Regarding the misses: I've seen SVB and other male pros miss easier shots. I was more surprised by some of the missed safeties where they didn't tuck the CB behind a blocker.

If pool is ever going to be a TV product we've got to accept that we're not the target market; there just aren't enough of us to make it profitable. They've got to attract 0.5% of the viewing audience (the active viewership of AZB is about one-thousandth of that).

They did it right: put on good-looking women who can play better than 99.99% of the guys watching. Great camera work and commentary that keeps pace with the game (listen to the cadence of Lon's commentary; what he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in broadcast know-how).

Wow! Lol so you want to give a negative commentary on the women playing yet you can't tell that was a 9 foot table not a bar box hahahahahahahahaahahahahah

How bought we just be happy that pool was on espn and it wasn't 5 years old or the stupid trick shot crap lol

No dis-respect to the women's tour and that they have accomplished more than the men's side by even being considered to be on ESPN, but I have to say that I'm not very impressed with their games. I never saw more than a 7 ball runout from any of the 4 players. I know they are accomplished professionals but I just wasn't impressed. I know I will get some difference of opinion and negative comments about the nerves and being on ESPN and I understand all that. Not to mention they were playing on a Diamond Bar Box. I know that we all know players in our own areas that put together 4-5-6 and even more racks together, especially on a Diamond Bar Box. Ive seen Brittany Bryant put together 4-5 racks together on the Bar Box and was fairly impressed. I could see that it would be much easier for them to get action than most the pro level men. I know I'd give any of them a little action on the DBB. If the gender plays no determination in the ability of a pool player, and I certainly DONT think it does, then why are the men so much better? Again, no dis-respect at all just thought I would throw it out there. Anyone else thinking the same thing?

Let's give it up for Rjmoncrief and One stroke you are the epitomy of the negative side of the forum and pool. Those women could beat you like a drum and all yall do is try to be a critic. Why do you have to be so damn critical can't you at least compliment the way they dress vs the construction worker attire that most of the men wear to tournaments. Try to figure out why they are on TV and the men can't get a spot. Spend your time and thought on something constructive not destructive. it seems as thou guys like you sit around like lions just waiting to pounce and be negative. If you are the example of the average fan pool is indeed dead.

I wasn't trying to be negative at all. I gave props to the fact they were on ESPN, something the men's side couldnt seem to get done. I was simply saying that I wasn't to impressed with their play, and that's all. And at the end of my post I stated I didn't understand why the men's tour or the pro's was so much stronger than the women. And as far as them beating me like a drum......how would u know? I stated that I, and many many many others would give them all the action they want.
I will end with this, If my post seemed to be negative and critical, then I apologize for it. It was not my intent. I simply stated that I wasn't impressed with the way they were playing at the time. If any of u lady pro's read my post, as I stated in the post, I meant no dis-respect to your game and everything u have accomplished.
And finally, I am not just a pool fan, I am a player and pool is not dead and never will be to me!

It's entertaining...

Although the women's game is not as "strong" so to speak. It's much more entertaining!! I love to watch pool. I watch as much pool on the Internet as anyone else, but I seem to be more interested in the women's game.

Something more relevant to my level I think. That's probably one of things that makes it more marketable. Not to mention they look way more professional then the Men. I mean I've made threads about dress codes and such. I'm not saying that the Men have to where a dress shirt and tie. I mean look at the women. They aren't wearing dresses. They look sporty.

Jasmine O. wears Nike apparel, like dri-fit tops. Kelly fisher looks like her top could have been designed by UFC apparel. I mean just look like you're playing a sport and you'll get treated like an athlete.

I think the asian and euro tours have it down. Just wear slacks and a polo. Tournaments should provide shirts that double as advertisements for the tour. Just include it in the entry fee. No ones gonna complain as long as you don't rip them off.

I only got to watch kelly and allison..I'll have to watch the rest later but I have to agree. You don't have to wear a suit but she could have worn something nicer then a t shirt. Although I didn't mind watching how she stretched it out lol

the Men usually play better safeties and are more agressive with the cueball, thats why most of them are better, plus the confidence thing, some women that know how these men play would let them pull them out of their game. Personally i like watching the woman play because there are some unpredictable things that happen, plus hey a good looking woman that shoots a mean game of pool,is a big turn on for me, i would love to try and convert some of those lesbian women back to being heterosexuals...lol...just sayin!!
Maybe we could play that the winners get to choose, ooops maybe i wouldnt like it if they won...lol

It was nice to finally see pool back on TV. Even if it wasn't the men. Allen Hopkins was OK doing the color but yeah that Lon McEachern guy is painful to listen to and like someone else said is nothing but a "TV Voice". They shoulda had Ewa's husband Mitch Lawrence do the matches. He was always pretty good and was there in the audience. He never tried to make it seem that he knew more than he did about the game like the Lon guy did. With all that being said, the pool was definitely not the best I've ever seen. However, Kelly Fischer was pretty impressive. First time I've seen her play. She deserved to win. Alison's game is definitely not what it used to be. Was good to see her play again though. She's always been my favorite women's player. She just got flat out out-played by Kelly. Ewa's win was more a product of the scoring format than her playing. The scoring format was a joke by the way. The pockets on that table seemed pretty tight too. And the table was clearly a 9 footer. Not a bar box. One thing I was surprised about was how little movement the 9-ball made on nearly every break. Unless it got kicked by another ball it just sat where it was racked. Anyone else observe that? Seems to me that if they bothered changing the rules to make the players call the 9, why bother playing it? Why not just play 10 ball? Like I said though, it was nice to finally watch pool on something other than you tube on my computer! :p
