Pool rooms Detroit and Chicago?

Red Shoes in the south suburbs of Chicago gets my vote. Not too keen on Detroit, though...

Not that it's too close, but if you are doing a lot of driving already, there's a 9 ball tournament in Beloit, WI at the Carom Room this weekend that will almost certainly draw some people from Chicago. It's an "open" tournament, so there should be some really good players.

Plush Pockets in Warren Mi. has to be the best. Excellent equipment and atmosphere too.

Really? If you like playing on Global 9 footers and Eagle bar tables I guess it would be the best. The only day I know of players going there is for the Thursday night open 9 ball tournament.

On Mondays, the Blue Diamond Lounge in Detroit has a lot of action and usually a few dozen players to choose from. They also have a small bar table weekly tournament on Wednesday evenings with a break and run pot as well.

Heading up I-94 to Port Huron there is a room called the Billiard Loft. They have a small 9 ball tourney on 9 footers on Thursdays and a Saturday bar table 9 ball tournament and have a monthly tourney with a calcutta on every 3rd Saturday of the month. There are a few people there that can usually be talked in to playing.

On the west side of Detroit in Livonia there is a room called the Rack that has a lot of the areas one-pocket players lately. The other room on the east side has been experiencing a pretty big drop in players over the past year so the other places have been getting a bit more reliable in finding games.

On the south side of Detroit in Lincoln Park or Allen Park is Ball-n-Cue. They have a bunch of Diamond bar tables and a half dozen or so 9 footers [1 older Diamond and the rest GCs]. There are usually a few people there that will play as well.

About 35-40 south of Detroit, in Monroe, is another poolroom that you can find a few games in also. I haven't been there is a long time and can't remember the name [Silver Cue maybe].

Feel free to PM me if you are heading to the Detroit area and I would happy to talk with you about room locations based on what you are looking for.

Red Shoes is a great room, I been to a zillion rooms and its a top top top joint.
