When I traveled to San Diego for the annual ESRI conference from 2003 to 2011, I stayed downtown near the convention center. I would take afternoons and go to Joltin' Joes in the Gaslight district. Great at first, then they sorta went down hill when they wouldn't let me upstairs to play on the GCs, Centenials, and Anniversaries. They made it worse when they rearrainged downstairs where poles and walls got in the way ... sad. Maybe they've improved since 2011. Ask this question on "Talk to a Mechanic" and SD will let you know of some good places.

Hi,,,,I was there last summer in July for a convention and yes,,,,they had the upstairs open,,,,

Very friendly staff,,,beautiful place, great equiptment,,,,!!

They cut travel out where I work so I'll probably never get back there. Regardless, I'm glad they opened the upstairs again.
