Pool Rooms Likes/Dislikes? Opinions Wanted!

What I like to see in a room is:

1. Clean bathroom with paper towels, not an air dryer.
2. Tables in plus-average condition with Centennials or high quality Aramith balls.
3. #2 with the correct cue ball to go with the set.
4. No jukebox or one that is low in volume.
5. Decent lighting on the tables.
6. Comfortable seating for the players.
7. Seating outside the playing area for the railbirds.

Hm, come to think of it, I think I just described Tacony Billiards. And the food's pretty decent there, too.

There are a lot of things I would like if I could dream up the perfect pool hall, but the main things to me are decent equipment, decent prices, and the room is not too hot.

I've been to halls where they want 8-10 an hour to practice; I can understand this kind of rate on Friday night but who is going to pay 25 bucks everytime they want to practice for three hours? Especially at upscale places that are half empty or more and it's 4:30 pm on Wednsday.

Tables with dead rails, chipped balls, and crooked house cues also can stop me from even wanting to play. Balls dropping out of pockets onto the floor is also fun...it took the local pool hall two months to fix that problem on two tables they used for tournements.

If a room is too hot, I just won't play. Sweating and playing pool do not mix unless there's $$ involved.

If the equipment is good and the prices fair, I'm not so picky about clean carpet etc... I like the old beat up pool rooms that have character. Music does seem to piss off the old guys a lot. When the old guys get mouthy, I like to put on Audioslave or other hard rock and watch 'em cringe. I have to listen to the same Sinatra songs three times a day, every day, so revenge is sweet sometimes.
