pool rooms near by??

I will make the trip to orlando to see the tournament...are there any pool rooms near the occc that would be worth the trip to see and or grab some shirts or jackets to bring home to some pool buddies that can't make it?? do you think any of the pros will be going some where to match up near by??

There are about 30 pool halls in Orlando, but most of them are sportsbar themed. Two in particular may be of interest.

Jimmy's Billiards - on Orange Blossum Trail, about 5 miles away. Not the best part of town and kind of past its prime.

Orlando Billiard Center - about 12 miles away, used to be the number one spot in Central FL when it was Pro Billiards (up until a year ago). Best tables and player setting although current owner can't spell pool. We have 2 IPT spec'ed tables set up there currently, 10 GC 4's, heated Sogaard and numerous other tables/activities. Charlie Williams frequents this place and I presume he will be there during this event with his cohorts.

Jimmy's is not a nice place at all anymore. Im not saying that to be mean, I just wouldnt send anyone into that neighborhood. There are several places such as Trick Shots (mutiple locations). OBC is the by far the best place to play. The traffic sucks here, so be prepared for that.

Do you mean it is 12 miles away from the Convention Center or 12 miles away from you? Anything closer to the Convention Center? I have trolley tickets up and down International, is there a poolroom on that strip anywhere? There's a table at our hotel, but I think it is a bar box.
 
hmm, 12 miles from me would tell you nothing. :) (Actually its 6 miles from me.)

On International Drive, there is a place called Backstage which is about 3-4 miles away, but its mostly a kids/sportsbar atmosphere.

I agree that Jimmy's is not the best place to go, but I threw it in there as some people might like that sort of thing??

there is NOTHING wrong with this room - it's a pool room - orange blossum trail is not 5th avenue, but it is NOT skid row. lots of cheap motels and strip joints - not everybodys taste - jimmys has good tables and quite a bit of cheap onepocket action.(30.00) - parking in front -- no problems to speak about. ITS A POOL ROOM - it's tough enough to make a living from a pool room without outsiders knocking . (I have nothing to do with this room, but have been in the business for most of my adult life and have played in this room - its a pool room.)

ORLANDO BILLIARD CENTER is the finest room in central Florida. Worth the trip from the Convention Center. OBC phone number is 407-896-2334. For direction, go to: http://map.google.com. Type in 835 BENNET, ORLANDO 32803.
