I have looked at many sets of pool rules about equipment and pool cues.My question is,
Can I change the tip of my cue once play has started after the break ?

I have a system that is patent pending.you can see it in the cue gallery under carbon cue. The system hits as good as a glue tip. You see I won a game last night, I had a difficult cut, so changed to a soft tip to get spin on the 8 to make it into the corner pocket. I was told it cold not be cut in. There was no clear pocket to bounce because there was still 6 other balls on table and close to the 8. So changed tip and won.They called it a fowl as changing tips is not allowed in the rules. I have been searching rules and can not find such a ruling.

Changing shafts amounts to breaking down your cue, which is considered conceding the match. I don't know about changing tips, I personally think it should amount to some kind of foul. You should have to finish the match with the shaft/tip you started with unless the tip came off/shaft broke.

Thanks for the support. I know changing tips is not every bodies thing.If I really knew how to stroke , it may not have made the difference.
 
You can change shafts as long as you tell your opponent. If your cue becomes unplayable(damaged) during match you can repair it.
