Pool table into a billiards table?

Anyone know of a product that will fill the pockets so the table will act as a billiard table? I'm asking for a friend who owns a bar with a few nice diamond 8 footers. I have gotten him interested in 3C but no one in town has a table. So I told him I'd ask around as I have never heard of such a product. I understand that it wouldn't be ideal and would probably play kinda funny, but at least it would give him an idea of the game, and maybe improve his pool game. Any help is appreciated and please post links if ya's got any info.
Thanks again.

Someone does make such a thing, just not sure who. I will see if I can find who does. Or possilbly I could make some with the dimensions and all.

The publisher of Billiards Digest has a new magazine about billiard/darts/bowling retailing, and one of the categories in the magazine's directory is "carom blocks" which I take to mean the short pieces of cushion that are designed to fit into pockets to make a pocket table into a carom table. There were five or six companies listed.

Pocket blocks occasionally go by on eBay.

A friend of mine got carom blocks made for his Diamond table. I'll ask him about where he got them. They were OK, but not the same as real, solid cushions.

Tables used to be sold with two sets of rails.

Thanks guys.
PTM--I could get you such dimensions, if you tell me what to measure. All I know at this point is they're diamond 4x8's w/ simonis 860 probably stock cushions from factory(whatever those are?). About how much would this cost if you were to make 'em?
Thanks,
David

Easiest thing would be taking a picture from directly above a corner and a side, with a tape measure to give the scale.
As for price, no idea really......since I have never really done it, would probably do if cheap just to see if I could. See if you can get some pics and I will see if I can do it. And if I can, you can try them and see if they work.....not really worried about a price, because as small of a piece of rubber I would have to use, I can use scrap pieces. Also measure the height of the tip of the rubber. Sounds like a good project to try, and if it works you can send me 20 bucks......... :p

I haven't seen it but a good friend of mine has played with them before and was not impressed with the kicks off of the inserts. Could have been an inferior product. I imagine it would be hard to mass produce something like that and get a consistant kick off of it mainly because not every pocket is the same. Size of the mouth, angle of the points, hundreds of combinations i'd imagine. But would be great if it worked. Beats changing the rails all the time.

Yeah I agree, it probably wouldn't perform all that well, but it's better that nothin'!
PTM....I will take some photos and measurements tonite. PM me with an email addy and I can email 'em to you.
Thanks alot,
David

Like the other guy said, I have seen some cheesy ones that were made of rubber. The only way I see the make them and have them perform would be make them custom......If that makes sense.
I think it would be tough to make them perfect.......like: problem with having them rebound right, or what about if you hit right at the seam where the insert meets the rail.
If the room owner is interested in spending more, he could buy a set of 3 cusion rails for the table. I dont think Diamond makes them but someone might, or even alter an old set of rails.
You can send me the dimensions and pics and I will see what I can come up with....... PoolTableMech@aol.com ...........I will see what I can come up with. I have a few ideas that might work better than what I have seen in the past.

Thanks,
