I found a 6 year old Pallason with 6 month old Simonis on it. Are these tables any good? Can the cloth be reinstalled? Not sure which model and it's still assembled so I can check how good the rails/rubber are.
Not many on here know Pallason tables as they are a Canadian table. The Dooleys pool halls all used them. I played a fair bit on 9ft ones and they played alright to me. The cloth can be replaced. I'm not sure about taking it off and reinstalling it. I would think once it's stretched it's stretched.I found a 6 year old Pallason with 6 month old Simonis on it. Are these tables any good? If the table is set up, sounds like you can certainly play some on it. That should be able to provide all the feedback you need as to whether it plays up to your expectations.I found a 6 year old Pallason with 6 month old Simonis on it. Are these tables any good? I was thinking the same about them being CDN and about re stretching the cloth. Not many on here know Pallason tables as they are a Canadian table. The Dooleys pool halls all used them. I'll know once I hit the CB around if the rails play high/low or dead rubber and how it banks. If the table is set up, sounds like you can certainly play some on it. That should be able to provide all the feedback you need as to whether it plays up to your expectations.
I almost bought 2 for 300ea from a Dooly's that was closing. I knew I was going to do some work to them though, like all new cushions and cloth. Had confirmed I wanted them but he decided to sell them all to another location as a package deal as he had 14.I'll know once I hit the CB around if the rails play high/low or dead rubber and how it banks.
We're they Pallasons or Black Crowns? I heard there was a 14 table deal that someone boughtI almost bought 2 for 300ea from a Dooly's that was closing. They claim to be Canadian made according to the tag on the ones I seen.
Hi Paul! I wish I could find one here in NS and have scoured marketplace. A new Gold Crown is too much for my budget lol and my next choice is a new Black Crown.George the Greek
The shipping weight of a 9 foot Palason is about 450 pounds.
The shipping weight of a Diamond is about a 1,000 pounds.
If I had only one piece of info to buy a table o, I’d buy the heaviest one.
Look for an Anniversary
Keep looking, George.. There are old Brunswicks in storage some place.Hi Paul! I wish I could find one here in NS and have scoured marketplace. A new Gold Crown is too much for my budget lol and my next choice is a new Black Crown.
Palason tables play ok when set up correctly. Built for commercial use. Problem is they often have huge pockets. Definitely get them shimmed down to ~4 5/8" ... they are almost 5" stock in the corners. Come by Dooley's Burnside this Saturday (provincial 8 ball tournament) and talk with Dale Brimicombe. He does installs locally and might be able to point you in the direction of a good deal on a table.Hi Paul! I wish I could find one here in NS and have scoured marketplace. Thanks Paul! Advice well taken.Keep looking, George.. There are old Brunswicks in storage some place.
The weight of a table is so important…Raymond Ceulemans said if you add a half an inch to a slate, you get a full length
to the table. The table also gives on a bank…you increase the speed on a bank, the table will bank wide, because the
whole table will give.
You will regret buying a light table.
Thanks Chris! I might just do that. Been meaning to come out and check out the local scenePalason tables play ok when set up correctly. Built for commercial use. I agree but i think the op is in Canada. Finding decent B'wicks up there is pretty much a no go from what i hear. The CanadaBilliards BlackCrown is a good table. Not a GC for sure but a good playing table.Keep looking, George.. There are old Brunswicks in storage some place.

I've been scouring pooltables for sale for awhile now and haven't found a used Gold Crown. A new one is beyond my budget and I can get a new Black Crown for alot less. I was thinking about the used Pallason I found but they wanted it moved asap and I'm not ready for it yet as I'd have to store it somewhere. I can order the new one and wait for it and the basement should be finished by the time it arrivesI agree but i think the op is in Canada. They were Palason's the owner of the place had lost or let go of the Dooly's franchise but still owned the tables and run it as a pool hall and bar. He ended up closing because of Covid. Another Dooly's 30 minutes away bought them all after he told the manager to advertise them. The manager had half of them spoken for when he made the deal to sell them in a package deal without her knowing. They were rough but not bad as he was known for skimping on maintenance. We're they Pallasons or Black Crowns? I heard there was a 14 table deal that someone bought
Ya they have a fairly big pockets. The ones I was going to look at I was going to get cheap enough that I was going to attempt extending the sub rails to tighten the pockets . My father is a carpenter/cabinet maker so we thought it might be a nice project.Palason tables play ok when set up correctly. Built for commercial use. Problem is they often have huge pockets. The were a lot of Brunswicks made in Canada….Brunswick of Canada was a separate company.I agree but i think the op is in Canada. Finding decent B'wicks up there is pretty much a no go from what i hear. The CanadaBilliards BlackCrown is a good table. Not a GC for sure but a good playing table.
