Does anyone have any experience playing on any tables made by C.L Bailey Co. They are a company out of Marionville, MO

Some of the specs are 1 inch thick diamond honed slate, floating nut plates and gum rubber cushions. They also come with a life time warranty for the original purchaser.

I am looking at putting a 9 foot 'Black Night' in my rec room with 860 Simonis cloth. Will this be a reasonable table to play on?

Any suggestions?

I have one, bought it in 2001 as a result of an internet search which listed the table as a Consumer's Best Buy. I play on it every day and it has held up and still plays great. Some of my friends, who know how a good table should play, come by all the time and never say a word about my table, which I take to be a good thing. If the table played badly they would tell me. We play all games on it, 9 ball, straight pool, and one pocket.

The only thing about my table is it didn't come with a slate backer so the original cloth had to be glued on. Last year, as a result of a flood, I had to take the table completely apart to pull the carpet. I put it back together a few days later and added a one inch sheet of mdf under the slate. Maybe this is an option you can ask for if you decide to purchase. I also shimmed the pockets to make them play a little tighter.

Bottom line is I am very happy with this table for the price I paid. Let me know if you have any other questions, maybe I can help.

My plan is to have the installers put simonis 860 on the table as well. Do you feel this would work on this table?

No, I don't recall seeing that table when I bought mine. Too bad because that is a sweet looking table and it would probably be sitting in my basement right now! I bought the ebony Addison model. Looks really good with the Tournament Blue Simonis 860 that I have on it.

Simonis 860 is what I've had on my table since I pulled the original crappy nap cloth that came with it. You can't go wrong with Simonis. I've done my own re-covers and while I can't say it's a breeze, they always go pretty smoothly. A lot easier now that I can staple the cloth down.

Too bad you're in Canada. If you were local to the Chicago area I'd tell you to stop by and check out my table.

I've played on one and liked it. My buddy has one. He had a problem with the slate right from the start. CL Bailey fixed the problem without arguement. He is very satisfied with his table (now 4 years old). I think CL Bailey is the reincarnation of the old Fisher table company.

About how much do these tables run?

I will be shelling out about $4000.00 dollars Canadian for this table. Keeping in mind I had the company I am purchasing through give me a quote with Simonis 860 cloth and a Platinum upgrade package with Aramith Pro balls.

Lights_Out,

Thanks for all the info! If I am ever headed to Chicago I will give you a ring. This is probably the table that will be in my rec room after I get into my new home. :)

Cheers.

Sounds good, and you are more than welcome! Good luck with your table and I expect another thread from you soon with pics of your new table.

Has anyone played on, or at least know of these tables?

I sell this table. Good tables for home use. Inexpensive for a 9 foot table that is American made and plays well. We retail them for about $1895 for the smaller ones and $2395 for 9 Foot tables delivered and installed in the St. Louis area.

CL Bailey was founded by Charlie Bailey with his son Chuck(with some other investors). Charlie originally started Playmaster Billiards which was bought out by AMF. Charlie signed a non-compete clause when AMF bought him out but came out of retirement 5 years laters to start CL Bailey. Fischer was the name of the line of tables that are manufactured by CL Bailey in China that are imported. The old Fischer line of tables has nothing to do with this line that I know of. Charlie just remembered the old line of tables made in the 70s and used the name since it was available. My understanding of how they got the name. My family also sold Fischer tables in the 70s and 80s.
