Pool Team Knockout Cup Formats

Hi Guy's.

Across the pond here in Clydebank , Scotland , the League format is 8 X Single's games & 4 X Doubles games & the gigs kick off @ 8pm but they have to end by 11.30pm or 12 Midnight & well , sometimes the doubles games drag on & have to be rearranged when they get to the Pubs closing time .

The Knockout Cup's have the same format & the players are getting restless & suggesting alternative formats & I had to agree because what's the difference between the League & the Knockout Cup , nothing unless players are on holiday & what good is that ?

So the natives are getting restless & my good friend Tam suggested playing a 15 player gig in a race to 9 & that would mean some players playing 2 matches . However some players like to play Doubles matches .

So I'm not only asking you guy's for alternative idea's but when it comes to Team Knockout Cup Competitions , so many questions , for starters , your format ! :wink::cool::D:thumbup:

8 singles then 4 X doubles & that it , Bob's Yer Uncle etc .

That's the league & cup & the dudes are trying to think out a new way for the Knockout Cup .

Any Ideas ?

8 singles matches & 4 doubles matches so the result can end up in a 6-6 draw .

Never made an ounce of sense to me when I played & that's nearly 20 years ago , I mean if it's a Knockout tournament these gigs should be settled on an odd frame score winner race to the hill format like 9-8 etc but theres only 4 hours to play with over here .

I had to laugh when I read the League tried to alter the format by making the knockout cup a 12 X singles matches & that didn't work ! Maybe it's cos the games can still end up 6-6 ! Too many cowboys , not enough Indians !

A knockout cup played in a League format ?:eek: I know how it sounds . :D

I owe some real good dudes a favour & that's why I asked the questions about alternative formats .

I owe a friend a favour as I met him on Facebook after years & years & I asked Tam if he thought about streaming the League matches & he tried his best & did a great job for a 1st time & their is some videos on the website for you to enjoy !

If you think this game looks easy , trust me it's easier to lose than it is to win .
