Pool V Golf

Which do you think is tougher, Pool or Golf?

Is golf really that much more exciting to watch rather than pool?

Options please!

Golf is alot harder to compete on the top level. Not saying that I like watching golf, because I wish they had pool on 24 7. But in gold they have to hold it together for 72 holes. One or two mistakes and your outta contention. ............And did you mean opinions?........not options right? LOL!

golf to me is one of the most boring sports out there to watch although i'm sure it's fun to play but if you're a spectator it's soo boring. Pool is more unpredictable so it's more exciting at least to me that is.

I must agree with fast larry.

Pool at the highest level, is almost chess.

Golf in my opinion should never be televised. Sorry to those who enjoy watching this incredibly boring game. I do however like to play the game cannot watch it but like to play it. Pool on the other hand I can watch 24/7, and so can my 2 year old. As far as agility goes in pool you don't need much. Endurance however you do need as well as mental discipline. If you don't beleive me about endurance try a few 18 hour matches and see how sore your muscles get. Now as far as challenge at the pro level goes again my vote goes for pool. In golf a couple bad shots doesn't really mean squat. In pool however facing top players if you miss one shot you can sit down, because you are not going to get a shot anytime soon.

Golf, in my opinion, is not as exciting as pool but is tougher. You have to contend with more variables in golf than in pool.

golf is harder.
by the very nature of its format. there is always a possibility of a lesser player beating a better in pool because pool is the one sport where one player might never get a chance to play. so in pool, an A player can run racks on an open player, and win. all players get their chance in golf, plus they all play the same course over four days. the better player will come out ahead.

if you were to ask a person not interested in either, they would probably like golf. it's prettier, it's outdoors, everyone looks healthier. pool looks easy to one who doesn't understand the game.

even pool players play golf...how many golfers play pool.

I noticed that most of the posts mentioned something about "I don't like to watch golf", "golf is the most boring sport", "golf should never be televised"! We are all pool players more than golfers, agreed? What do you think golfers, basketball players, tennis players, football players, etc are saying about pool or are they saying anything at all?
Golf to me is just as difficult to a pool player as pool is to a golfer. Each sport has its ups and downs! Once sport many not know the other as well as its own.
A) Pool...table roll; golf...wind
B) Pool...bad tip/shaft; golf...dirty club head/bad grips
There are many variables in each sport which would lead us to believe that one is better than the other. We (pool players) learn to adjust to table speed and rolls just as a golfer learns to adjust to the wind or the speed of the greens. We both have to make minor adjustments no matter what table or course we're playing on. If you are a runout player, yes, you have a greater chance of winning; if you are a birdie player, you have a greater chance of winning. Yes, sometimes the balls roll funny for both sports and the underdog gets the win! If the same 3 pool players and the same 3 golfers are constantly winning....do you honestly think anyone else would want to invest time, money and energy to play our sports? What fun is it if the same people keep winning and everyone else is stuck at a certain level? Golf can die off in popularity just as Pool has, but there's something that Golf has that keeps the generations playing. Our sport of Billiards needs that "something" to get the next generations to play and to get Pool in the public eye. What is that "something", we all know, but can't put it in words, right?
As the saying goes, "don't knock it till' you've tried it"! For every slam or bash on golf, there's twice as many on pool! We need to promote our sport, it takes money to make money! Most companies or people are afraid of taking a chance on something all because of the mighty dollar. Answer this...when you die, what the hell good is your mighty dollar then? Take a chance on something, something you love, something you enjoy doing....POOL!!!!

Golf is by far the hardest game I have ever played.

And I have played a lot of games

Larry

Things are great here in gods country.

I never said I wasn't good at golf. I just said it was the hardest

game I ever played. Over a period of about 4 years I put my

pool cue up and played golf 4 to 6 times a week. I improved

greatly. I reached the point in golf that it only took a few years

to reach in pool. I only marginally SUCK. I have now reached

the point in my competitive life in all sports that I pride my self

at being an entrical part of the compitition. I am the FIELD, you

know, one of those average guys that get it all together every

now and then. The kind of guy the great players depend on to

make their game shine. I have found that my purpose for

competing is less about winning and more about being there. I

had much rather be in a, well played, close game than a one sided

game, win or lose.

Well I better quit typing before this starts to look like one of your

posts. LOL

I've played scratch golf all of my life and can prove that by sending you my handicap cards. I play scratch pool, so playing both sports at a pro level, I am in a good position to compare both.
Golf requires strength and real agility, pool does not. Pool requires mental strength and discipline far beyond golf. Pool is definetly the harder of the two sports to master and play at the top level. Pool at the highest level, is almost chess.
In golf, I can miss badly the first 3 shots on the first hole and still par. I can hit my first shot off the tee into the woods badly. Miss a 1 iron into the sand trap around the green. Miss the sand shot badly leaving a 50' putt. Make that one lucky putt and walk off par.
At the pro pool level, if you miss three shots during most races to 11, you are a loser and out of the tourney.

That is ridiculous! I am not a "scratch", but I play to about a 5 on a 7200 yard layout. And I play pool well enough that I will play you some Larry, but that is besides the point. The point is that golf is a far more difficult game for the average man. Like the gentleman said earlier their are alot of elements in golf, alot more than pool. Johnny is a great golfer as well as Earl, ask them their opinion. I will lay some odds that they say GOLF is the more difficult of the two!

But here is something that will make it a little easier..............
"Keep it in the short grass"

You are getting off of the track! I did not say to ask them which they would prefer as a career, I said to ask them which they thought was harder to play. Hell, that is a "NO BRAINER", anyone would prefer golf to pool as a career if they look at it from a financial standpoint.

Here is the top 20 players winnings for this year so far in pool...

Here is the $$$$$ leaders so far this year in golf..........
http://azbilliards.com/thepros/2000thepros.cfm

Not to mention the luxuries and amenities that are afforded to the PGA players. (ie. nice rental cars, mansions not motels to stay in on the road, a buffet evrynight that includes lobster and filets instead of Denny's or the Waffle House)

So once again I think that the choice for a CAREER is obvious!
The ????? was which is the most difficult???????

I for one say GOLF, but that is just 1 mans opinion as well!

A pool player will say golf is harder...A golfer will say pool is harder! IMO Unless you've reached Pro status in both sports, it will be difficult to say which is tougher!
