Mini-hustlers...

Could you imagine showing up at the local golf course to play a quick nine after work and having some guy fall out of the bushes on the first tee asking if you wanna gamble some? Then, after telling him to buzz off, you play three holes and encounter another guy leaning on the ball washer at the fourth tee asking if you wanna' play $5 a hole. You tell him to pound sand and smash your ball into the fairway, where two guys are yelling at each other over who is spotting who a stroke a hole.

Golf courses would be as valuable as Pokémon cards if this happened.

I had this happened to me at a Putt-Putt course once. This kid (early 20s) came up and asked if I wanted to play for $2 a hole. I said, "Well, f##k no!" and walked away from him.

Age Limits

I don't know the exact law, but I believe if you are underage, you must be accompanied by an adult in New York. In NY typically pool halls are serving alcoholic beverages, that's where most of the money is.

Because teenagers can't go into a pool hall unaccompanied, no teenage players. I don't know what it is in other states.

I can recall C.J. Wiley saying, he could go to the local pool hall, rather than his parents getting someone to watch him.

Could anyone's kids do today what C.J. Wiley did back then ?

High Schools have rifle teams and golf teams but no billiards teams !!!
