Pool's newest competitor for TV time.

RFA; 12 Competitors from Oregon.
The THC content in their SMOKE is too high if they think this is a "sport." (see what I did there?)
Either that or the cell phones zapped their attention span. Maybe a little of both. ;)

Actually I think you might need a much higher percentage to watch this for more than 2 minutes. I think pool is safe. You heard it here first folks. :ROFLMAO:

Lagging could be a new sport more than one rail contact could make betting fun.

I think you have a good point about the novelty versus staying power. And as far as views go, a game with a few videos can have better looking numbers than pool, with thousands of matches available. I don't really know what sort of numbers indicate much interest either.

I agree Matchroom has done a lot for our sport. I would still like to see our game become more interesting to the public. I feel like a fraction of what makes the game interesting is visible at first and if we could hold people's interest long enough, many would become fascinated with the nuances of the game. Roofball (with all the words my Sirocco Sirocco autoclave autocorrect doesn't know why does it know that one) probably doesn't have much more than what we saw in the first couple of minutes. I don't want to change anything about the sport, but highlighting different aspects of the different games could help grow the sport.
Agree that there is always room to improve. I think MR biggest opportunity at this time is in the overall presentation.

I would like to see them take a more of golf approach to the broadcast and switch between 3-4 key matches up until the quarter finals. This would keep things moving and help build the story which would lead to more excitement when it gets down to the last 8 since the audience should have been following the tournament as a whole instead of just the marquee matches.

The other idea would be to do something to break up the 5-10 hours of pool. For example, feature each of the top players doing their favourite trick shot or something. MR used to do a trick shot competition with the participants of the world pool masters and it was a lot of fun and a great way to connect fans to the players. They could do something similar but just feature one player a day as opposed to a whole seperate event.

Finally, I’d like to see them lean into the whole high run thing. Keep track tournament high packages and establish tour records. Almost all of billiard games that have found success at some point or another with the public has had some high run component to it.

If Matchroom needs an education center to practice broadcast and scripts I can recommend a few places.

The number of events is proving more staff are needed and seasonally trained staff won't have time to train new people.

Emily is due for a vacation soon. Her pace of travel is intense.
