So, "Pop the Champagne" = LIE.

"Negotiations Completed" = LIE

"Funding Completed" = LIE

"See you in Chicago" = LIE

"Players will get Paid" = LIE

And MORE THAN LIKELY: "Acquisition" = LIE

TRUTHS: Employees laid off, Tournaments (PLURAL) Cancelled, Still no Reno Checks.

My instincts tell me that all of the "ANNOUNCEMENTS" the last 2-weeks were for the sole purpose to buy KT enough time to FILE FOR PROTECTION. You can't sue him now, if the IPT has filed for CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY.

Well, you can file, but you're just another Creditor. Take a number, wait in line. You'll still be waiting 20-years from now.

It truly saddens me that this Industry has received yet another blackeye. :( Do you realize the impact this wil have on the entire industry??

Nah, if it all falls down, he has still paid out $2million dollars, he's the Pool Messiah, the Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread, he gave people hope, gave them a dream to dream, everyone came out ahead but poor old magnanimous KT, blah, blah, yak, yak, barf....

We should start hearing that chorus here shortly.

It looks like the IPT is done. And we are back to where we started.

Here is my question...

Do you think pool is better off or worse off than before the IPT "experiment"? And why?

I wonder what Rodney and Efren would say, never mind the hundreds of others still owed a hsit load of cash.

I do think the IPT has showen what pool tournaments "could" look like, however was it a false dream? Will this type of event ever be self sustainable, it looks unlikely. I'm convinced the IPTs plan was to fund the tour via qualifers so we'll never know what sponsors he could have got on board if he had focused on that. But it did show that even top class events, in world class venues, and million dollar prize money STILL didn't attract the blue chip sponsors we are all hoping for.

You need to refine your question by defining what you mean by "pool."

If you mean:

amateur pool...neutral...no impact whatsoever.

pool equiptment sales...ditto.

pool romm attendance...ditto.

Professional pool...

Short term...both better off and worse off. Why? Those players who got paid are better off and those who did not worse off because they have less money than what they had before the IPT due to expenses.

Long Term...neutral. This is not the first time pro pool players have been stiffed nor will it be the last. Before long, this whole IPT fiasco will become a shadowy chapter in this history of a shadowy sport (don't get me wrong I LIKE shadows).

I would like to think that the players and sweaters alike would become less prone to being duped but that is not likely to be the case.

If there is ever another APPARENTLY wealthy person who agrees to offer up large sums of money for a pool event but refuses to excrow any money and just tells the players..."Come and play without any firm guarantee or stay home...your choice." Most players would show up on the thesis that even KT paid out a couple of times before stiffing everyone. AND THEY WOULD BE CORRECT IN DOING SO.

Does anyone think that the Vegas winners feel stupid for showing up? I don't.

I am NOT justifying what KT has done as my posts clearly state. I am just responding to your question.
