Just a follow-up to let you know that the self-repair went flawlessly. The cue was back to it's old self in this morning's practice session. I'll be more careful in the future (although it's good to know that it's such an easy repair).
I've had this happen twice: once the day I received the shaft (bought used) and once again exactly a year later (to the date actually) on a different OB Break shaft that had a samsara put on at a tournament that didn't allow phenolic break tips.
I've since learned a) how to break better (heh) and b) that a shorter break tip works a LOT better on those OB Break shafts, as both tips were newer and huge when they came off. My trusted cue repair guy suggested going shorter to reduce the 'flex' of the tip, and now I'm going on my 2nd year with the last samsara replacement with no problems at all. I (now) break around 20-22mph usually, just fyi.
