Don't know much about it, but I do know there are other tools you'll need. I'd look into buying a kit with all the items required for tip replacement. The most important is something that can clean/lightly sand the ferrule so that the tip goes on flat and stays on when glued.
I think shaving is the easiest part of tip replacement. I've always used a razor blade, a steady and patient hand, and some tape (to protect the ferrule). Has worked fine so far.
