Porper lathe

I have a chance to buy a porper lathe for $400. It works very well but is missing some items. The person claims it didnt come with lathe. It is 8 years old and functions well. Items missing. Taper bar, router, rear collets. live centers. What do you guys think?

What's there to think about? Get it, before someone else does. :)

Agreed

I agree completely. If you feel uneasy about it, PM me. I could always use another travel lathe.

Most important question is,
Is it a model B or an old Model A. Model A's never had the feed screw, taper bar, router. The tool post was actually mounted to the tail stock. If it's a model B, you can also add me to the want list. I would tear it apart and rebuild it anyway. Actually I have an interest even if it's a model A.

Make sure that the lathe is running true with a dial indicater before you buy it, unless you are capabile of truing wourself.

Sell it here

He can sell it here for a profit without giving Ebay any of it.

Best thing though, is to just check it out as mentioned above. If it checks out, then jump on it. By the responses you've gotten, it's obviously a good buy if it is a sound unit.

By the way, Mikw Webb is correct regarding the differences between the two models. I don't know ANYONE, including the guy that has his name on the lathe, that knows more about them than M.W.
