In another thread it was brought up things the ABP could be doing . This is not a bashing thread. Please refrain from it. This is a "hey why don't y'all consider this"

Right off the top of my head someone could approach a sponsor with a proposal that they fund a charity tournament for say Ovarian Cancer or Leukemia The entire organization shows up does publicity...visit hospitals..signs autographs has pictures taken....visits radio stations....actually promote the sport...get a sponsor to donate a table to the children's wing..drop by and give a free lesson or two...

Approach Pat or Justin about tournaments they are streaming that the player will be appearing in. work a deal with "coupon codes" that each player has and then go out to the local pool hall...show up unannounced on league night...glad hand...kiss babies...shoot around with the league folks...don't charge..or talk to the pool hall owner and charge 10 a game all comers..give out printed cards with coupon code talk up the upcoming tournament...get a piece of the viewers you bring in..show off your sponsors gear...league players are most pool companies ideal shopper...

more to come......

Thanks....

I have been working on a proposal to create a high school billiards program in my spare time...figure eventually I will run across someone will to help build it...

once again something that could be beneficial to pros and upcoming players as well as the local pool halls..

I don't want to go that far into it cause it would take a whole nother post...lol..

Wow, this really hits it.

Totally agree with this post. The shame is that this has not been done for decades. All of the pressure on the pro players should not just be borne by the current crew but it has to start sometime. We, the average pool players, can not move the sport into the next level; only the pro's can. However, once they do we have to do all that we can to support them. This is so much more important than the current bs that is going on.

The problem is it has to start somewhere....the current mentality seems to add 2+2 and get 5 and continue repeating figuring eventually it will change to be what they want

Unless you can get average joe to sit down and watch a pool match you are not going to get sponsors to pony up without offering them something good for them..

Look at the counter at the store and see how many celeb trashizines are there..you think that every pic in there was just "opps i didnt realize walking out of the gym in skintight spandex that there would be photographers there"? No they work at it...

You need heroes in any sport...we are severely lacking

these are some good ideas...especially the popping up on league nights suggestion. A majority of the League players that I use to play with didnt/still doesnt know who efren reyes is, let alone who a majority of the members of the ABP.

Another idea I think is whenever the league events come together for a championship, ie APA Championships in Vegas, or BCA or TAP in Vegas, have an ABP booth set up, with a table or two within access a bar and full size, and mingle with the league players. Have the Pros help them out with any questions they might have regarding how to improve, ie stance, a stroke analysis, various bridging techniques, what type of drills to do, set up a complicated yet common shot and demonstrate and encourage the league players to try it out. They could do also get a booth at SBE, have a crowd gathered, lines formed for autographs, etc. I remember at SBE, the pros had a benefit challenge match for Ginky, and there were a lot of people lined up to play various pros, they could do something similar to that again, and when the pros play, have them say whats they're thinking about how to run the rack. Or they could do assist lower level players in attempting to run a rack, that way the Pros can assess how the player can improve.

One of their main goals is they need to get their names out there to league players, and they need to get an audience to want to watch them, either in live tournament or on stream, etc, and should develop a larger fan base. Having the pros mingle and socialize with the lower level players and audience would always help pool grow in the long run.

This is one of the most important goals. And much more than just owning a league franchise....sponsors want people watching their ads...buying their products....

The "whats in the case" segment is a perfect example...so much more could be done with something similar...

I mean lets look at wrestling...I hate to use it as a example...but Earl...people will pay to watch him wondering if he is going to implode...wrestling is the same thing..people watch to see what is going to happen...

Put people in the seats...have product going off the shelf...and you will build a sport that people will want to watch...more importantly sponsors will want to support...

There is one pool player who realizes that its a product you must market...

Easily the most recognizable player outside the normal industry..

Anybody wanna guess her name?
