Possible to extend shaft length from 29 to 30 inches?

I'm actually a fan of DeeDeeCues. I can be rather abrasive at times! However I certainly harbor no ill will at all, in fact quite the opposite. I have a great deal of respect him, his wisdom, and his willingness to share it with us. Thank you for that.

I have a feeling we are very similar. Appreciate you, bud!

To make an one inch extension The approach i think would be best is not something every shop could do. That would be to take a piece of 1/2" inch diameter brass or G-10 and turn the joint threads on the end. Then part it off one inch behind the threads. Then spin it around and drill and tap it .900 deep with bottoming tap. Then install that piece into a sleeve of phenolic or plastic. Making the whole thing out of plastic would be good for weight, but horrible for strength. Making the whole thing out of G10 might be okay.

I am trying to picture a 1 inch mid extenson. A joint pin probaby needs at least one inch to screw into the wood. So where would the female thread go? I might not be seeing this right but that extension would come out to about two inches

If you make a solid metal piece with an integral male pin made of the same piece as the extension, the female will be threaded in the extension. The extension only has to be a little longer than the pin in the cue. The problem as I see it is that you must make the extension and make pin out of a solid billet of strong material, like brass. I would expect that you would want the female thread to end at least 0.2" below the face that mates to the shaft. If you have a 1" pin in the cue, a 1.25" extension should be feasible, expensive, and heavy.

I ran into this while searching for something else. It made me think of this thread. Different thing, but still some joint extension/adapter fuc*ery.

People seem to want to come up with all kinds of solutions seeking problems. Adapters and extensions are a black hole all over the place.
