I have a meucci M-1 sneaky pete, I am wondering if it is possible to re-stain the points black rather then the color they come in. I am tired of my cue being mistaken for a bar cue...(go figure).
Possible to re-stain a cue?

For the cost of doing that, you can probably buy a new cue. Need to strip the finish, dye the wood and re-finish. And since the thing is already put together, the quality of the staining probably won't be very good.

first your not alone...i've had people try and pick up 2k$ cues supposedly thinking that it was just a "normal" wallabuska how the F*K that happens i have no idea....
refinishing is not easy.....
my advice if you really want to do thisto use a stripper to remove the finish and find your stain color of choice and apply it....careful around the points I suggest using a small paint brush (the kind artists use) for work around that area....
Then you could just put a wax finish on the whole cue
you could do all this with no equipment at all
another thing you could do to reduce bleed is to put the wax coat on the forearm b/f you apply the stain...it will work like painters tape
its always best to have some one qualified to do the work you need but if you take your time and be patient what you are looking for can be acheived by the simple way i've described.
You could also choose a lighter color and stain the whole butt and the maple forearm will still stand out.
