so I wanted to teach others and also improve my own power control and was looking for some good drills. I've already taught them how different cutting angles affect the speed, but I definitely think some drills which require exact speed control off different cut angles would really help.

of course i've found 9 ball in its standard forum doesn't require enough exact speed control, a lot of slop is allowed and no penalty other than a harder shot, and no rewards for good speed control.

i was thinking some kind of game where you must get to a specific area of the table to get points, with random ball layouts that would be somewhat entertaining. or any other ideas?

There was a game called Target Pool that I think is out of print now (although Hawley's says you can get it here), but Bob Jewett devised a homemade version, which you can read about here.
