Power converter advice needed

I picked up a milling machine but it's 220 and my garage is 110. I found a few of them online but I was hoping to get some advice from people who have used them on which ones were good and which ones to stay away from. Thanks in advance

Need to know what amp motor is on the mill. If I had to use one I would probably use a 2000 watt one. The problem is that many motors don't use a lot of power once running but they have a large draw on start up so circuit breakers kick out. If it was me I would just run the 220 to the work area. You've already got 110 there so all you have to do is run one more strand of wire and actually if you wanted you could run the 220 over the same wires that you are now using for 110 but you would lose the 110.

thats the ? of the day. if its single phase just get an electrician to just drop a 220 by your mill. you'll be out the door for a few hundred bucks.

It's a single phase. I think I'll just get a sparky to run a seperate panel for the entire garage with a 220 outlet

That's the easiest way to go about because if you're in it for the long run you will need some more outlets before your all done. I put a 100 amp sub panel in the shop thinking there's no way I'll ever use it up. Wish now I had done a 200 amp.
You don't have to knock out for the breakers till you need to wire in a new toy.
