power stroke

I have been observing my stroke in a mirror and I have noticed something strange that happens on power strokes like extreme draw or follow. I use a pendulum stroke and when i do my warmup strokes my rear elbow is in proper plane, but after my stroke is completed I freeze and look in the mirror, my elbow is reverse chicken winged (tucked towards my back) and I can feel the tension from the back muscle pulling it in. On soft shots this doesnt happen. My rear hand just hits my chest and my elbow is straight up. (no tension in my back) Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated on how to prevent tensing up my back. Thanks

Thank God we only use that "power stroke" one out of a thousand shots.

well sometimes it happens on medium stroke shots to.

Most all shots with a pendulum stroke use the Bicep Muscle (forward) only. Sounds like you are engaging a shoulder muscle also.

With out a video it is so hard to tell. Maybe you can post one so we can review it.

What kind of follow through are you getting? Maybe your trying to follow through further than is natural?

Do you have a pause in your backswing? I find that tends to help stroking issues like this as it breaks the process down into steps.

I agree with Randy that without a video it's hard to help.
