I'm always looking for different ways to practice ... Working to improve my game through trying different practice technics ... Anyone out there willing to tell us how they practice what kind of drills they run to work on thier game anything that they think will help someone improve ... Rather it be drills or ways to improce touch and control or postitioning ....

The first thing I do when I get on the table is run through my Mother drills ... Most of the time I do this on my table at home ... Then I like to use just three balls on the table the first one is my O.B. where I pocket and try to get shape on the next ball ... Not just shape to make the ball but the perfect shape/angle to where I can have the perfect shape/angle on the third ball setting up shots that I struggle with during tournament play and learning how to get my cue ball around the table in the most difficult positions ... This seems to help me in playing postion...

first thing I do is line up a few balls on the footstring, Then I keep the cue ball behind the headstring and give myself some nice straight shots...this ensures my aim is acurate. Then I'll do a few short rail banks, a few really thin cuts, I'll practice bridging over and behind balls, then I'll finish with putting several balls on the rail and shoot them (directly, not with a cue ball) into the pocket at the e-other end, this helps me with shooting a cue ball frozen to the rail.

Once i do these, I like to throw out a rack of 9 ball and practice my position play that way.

Just about everything I do is found on AZ

I have several drills I do that mostly have been put up here on AZ. I'm to lazy but a quick search will find them.

I do some Mississippi 9 Ball is what it's usually called.

I also do a 13 ball Drill. You cant touch any balls with cue ball or object ball. No Banks and no combos. Shoot balls in any order, start with ball in hand.

Something I call corner to corner. Moving up a diamond with every make, back a diamond if I miss.

I practice banks, kicks, jumps for about 10 -15 minutes at least once a week. I also do the 10 ball drill for 10 racks keeping track of my score. I play the ghost in a race to 7. I will throw 4-7 balls plus the eight ball and start with ball in hand and run those. I start with 4 balls and move my way up. Just some of my practice routine. I mix them up every day but try to do everything twice a week.

I forgot one

I rack the balls and break from the head spot. Then it's basically straight pool, call ball & pocket. Until the last 5 balls which must be shot in order. Each of the first 10 balls is worth a point. The last five that are shot in order are worth 2 points. Max score each rack is 20. Play 10 racks (I don't do these all in 1 day usually) for a max score of 200.

Pocket 30 of these a day and you'll reap the benefits within a a month or two.

Note: Start out shooting them at a medium speed and then start smacking them in as you get dialed in.
