I'm new to shaft fininshing and have a question regarding Predator Partial shafts.

When they arrive from the supplier are they already finished some what?

I received one last week and it seems to have a finish already on the shaft. If I wanted the 314 logo on the shaft I would then have to finish it again..Correct?

The reason for asking is I do not have a set up yet for applying finsh to shafts. abd if the predators already come this way then I would buy them instead of the blank maple shafts. Is there any other shafts that come already finished? ie: OB, Tiger X, Mcdermott

You will have to add the joint rings and finish the shaft. It just comes with some sort of sealer on it.

Partial shafts from all the replacement shaft makers will arrive to with the joint end of the shaft unfinished. The shafts will not have joint work done at all, so that you can fit them to your cue, and then finish them. The purpose of this is to accomodate those with odd joint dimensions or those with special decorative rings that the cue owner wants matched. These shafts will not only need to have a finish sprayed on them but they must be machined to fit the cue first.

I am not sure whether you are building cues and want ready made shafts for them or if you are wanting to put shafts on an existing cue. I am assuming the latter because if you were building and finishing cues you would certainly be able to finish shafts. If you are just trying to fit an existing cue you just need to determine what joint screw it has in it and the diameter of the joint. We offer OB-1 Cue shafts with numerous joint size and configurations as do others. You can find this information on our website.

If none of the standard joints will fit your cue then you must either get a partial and have it fitted by a cuemaker, or have the company selling the shafts do it for you.

Yes, we will be at the Super Billiards Expo in March. We will be in booth 26 on the upper level.

Will you be there? I would very much enjoy meeting you face to face. I have always liked your posts.

I welcome any other AZbers to stop by and introduce yourselves if you are at the show.

Thanks
