Predator 314-2 Shaft "Disappointment"

Well.....I received a new 314-2 shaft brand new as ordered from
a very reliable vendor (no name mentioned as not their fault)
I was extremely disappointed to see the quality of the shaft.
I am not speaking for others cause I'm sure their are plenty of
happy campers with 314's.

The shaft was made from a blank 314-2 and the ring was ordered
with the silver ring to match my cue. It was also ordered with
a Morri III medium tip. They do not offer a regular "silver ringed
radial shafts" hence the custom order.

The received shaft black ring looked as if it was forced on and to
the point of the black ring looking like it was sandpapered. Further
the radial pin female was so tight it hardly would screw on to my
standard cue male radial pin. It also seemed to have a sniper tip
on it when in fact I ordered a Morri.

With this said, and although I did not hit this shaft, and will be
returning it for credit, it put a real bad taste in my mouth as far
as Predator quality control is concerned or as to inspecting their
outgoing orders carefully.

This is not a thread to bash the shaft, but just what happened to me
and my diappointment today so I'll be staying with my quality OB-1.

That is unfortunate. Did you not contact Predator or the vendor to see if a possible solution could be found? Many have complained with the quality control of Predator, however I love their shafts and wish they would straighten out these problems. I myself have owned an OB-1 and sold it for a 314-2. I liked the construction of the shaft but just way too flexible for me. My friend likes it though

Actually, it would be the vendors fault. You said you ordered a blank..... well its the vendor who installs the joint collar, ring work and drills and taps it etc.

I agree...just recently I did a similar order but with a Tiger X Ultra....Muellers did the ringwork for me and everything went smoothly and the shaft plays great!

Ryan at RAT Cues(Muellers) did great work...thus the reason for plug for his services.

I have to agree with the guys above,you didn't hit with the shaft ,so you were more upset with the quality(tip & rings) and the female radial joint than the proformance of the shaft. I'm sure you paid alot for the custom shaft also. No names,but did this vendor work for Predator,who did the ring work,tip and thread on the radial joint? That just sucks anyway you look at it.
Hope all works out right for you. Also bringing up Ryan at Muellers,I sent him my Joss to have the wrap done,got it back quick and couldn't be happier with it,perfect still to this day,Thank's....Ron

My advice is to buy a Predator blank and have your cue maker or a good cue repair man finish the blank to match your cue. I've done this a number of times since I play with predator shafts and i've been very satisfied. A good cue maker won't charge you that much to finish the shaft for you and you'll be very satisfied.......

I don't get the hype about those "ultra low deflection" shafts. Squirt can help you as well as hurt you depending on how you use it, just like english. It's just one more thing to master. Next thing you know predator will be churning out low english shafts for the bangers who can't hit center ball.
