Predator 314-2 shaft

My playing cue is a Jobo custom cue, made in The Philippines.

2 months ago I bought a partial 314-2 shaft and had my cue maker fix it on my butt. I was pretty happy how the shaft play and with the feeling, but after 2 months, in the final of a 9 ball tournament, I must do a long and powerful draw shot. The shaft exploded near the joint and split in 2 pieces for about 3 inches.

My guy has been able to fix it and the shaft still play good, but now, my ferrule has cracked.

What a bad quality for this expensive product.

Predator, never ever I'll buy something from this brand, way overpriced for the quality.

How can you blame Predator for the joint work? Did you call Predator to see what they would do for you?

Hmmm, interesting post. There is justification for a rant....sometimes.

Predator shafts come with a warranty, even the partials.
The ferrule will likely be covered. There are a few stipulations though.
Orig. purchase receipt, decal in place, no signs of physical abuse, etc.
Details are listed on the Predator website.

I consider Predator shafts to be the Ferraris of the pool world.
The better stuff SHOULD cost more, wouldn't you agree ?
When you buy the Ferrari in 'kit' form and have someone assemble it for you,
similar to what you've done in buying a partial, it may not be Ferrari's fault
that the finished product doesn't quite match that of the factory's.
I build Predator shafts every day. They aren't meant to be built like a typical shaft.
The builder needs to be knowledgeable of the shaft's construction and it's intricacies.
I hate to be blunt, but, if your 'guy' botched the build, you can forget the warranty.
As to the joint 'exploding', I'd like to see it.

I agree with KJ mostly. I had to pay my learning money too. I once had it break off above the joint too. But I found that the reason being was that my insert was too tightly forced it. This caused stress on the laminated wood, causing it crack open like a banana.
The ferrules however are covered by Predator within a certain range of circumstances, like you can't turn it down below a certain diameter.
The decal being on I have to say is a bs policy. I got my partial through an official dealer without a decal on it... Just saying if you want predator, you need to find the right guy to set it up for you. Even though most joints are available by Predator. So it's better to buy one of those and you can still have someone do custom rings on them.

Did this shaft have a joint ring?

Actually, the decal part is very true. The decal isn't applied until the partial is built,
joint turned to size and just prior to applying the finish.
How do I know ? At one time I WAS Predator-warranty.
I still do some warranty-work that's not done in-house at Seyberts.
