Here is a new product question for you all. Now ive heard that predator shafts are supposed to be one of the best shafts on the market. Very strong durable, gives you more control on spin and better draw. Now do you think that this shaft will help you do all these things and overall elevate your game. One other thing that is different is that they have a bigger taper than your standard shaft. What are your opinions on these shafts. Do you think it is worth the money or are you better off just playing with your own shaft?

actually i think they have a smaller taper than others...it comes with a 12.75mm and others comes either by 13.25/13mm.....i own one and have no probs with it...i'm selling it though cause it's quite old and i think it lost all it's powers already lol. So i might buy a new one once i sell it.... Try it for your self...if you think it will improve your game then buy it...if not then stick with your regular shaft....why fix it if it ain't broke right...it's up to you.

whoa....would that fit between the fingers?lol...it hard enuf to shoot with a 13.25mm it's like shooting with a log lol...but 15?hehehe boy i don't think you'll get alot of english with that regardless if it was a pred. :D

I think that the shaft is fine, but the ferrel is the worst on the market. I had one rebuilt by a guy on the west coast. He added a wooden center and a solid, supported ferrel. It handled better after that.

If you think the predator handled better after a tenin and standard ferrule was added, then you should go back to
a regular shaft. If you plug the hole and add a regular ferrule you just put the deflection back in the shaft. Also you just voided what little warranty there is on that shaft.:) :(

I have a Pechaur with Predator shaft. I actually like the Pechaur shaft better than the Predator. The Predator has a funny-sounding ht to me. Sometimes it feels like the ferrule is loose or something. Just about everyone else I know swears by them. To each their own!

I too love and use and highly recommend the 314 shaft! I will not say it's the best shaft on the market, but I will say that it's the best shaft I've played with and it did make a difference in my shots and my overall game.

I play with both 314 and regular shafts. Although deflection is really less with the 314, I try not to apply english anyway. Plus some shafts (even if they are not 314s) have very little deflection because of the its straight and consistent grain.

So (I think) if a player is not as consciuos in how he stokes the ball, how he measures the distance the qb will have to travel, and how he wants the qb to contact (slide, roll or backspin) the ob, plus how he wants the qb to react to the rail, then the 314 technology will be less appreciated.;)

I would strongly go against switching to a 314 if you have been playing for a long time with the same cue that has a good shaft. The reason why is because when you are applying english to the ball with a 314, you aim differently because of the minimal deflection. There is also a difference in the "feel" of the hit to me.

I have tested Predator shafts before, and I really don't like them. Not only because I have to aim different, but it feels like a "dead" hit when I make contact with the CB. The 314 shaft caused me to hit the CB much harder than I intended, so I had to slow down my stroke a little. That takes the "feel" out of the game. Some people say that you can get more draw or follow english with a 314 than you can with a regular good shaft. I don't really think that is true.

All in all, I like to have a "feel" in my hit. To me, the 314 doesn't give me a good feel. Maybe because the wood in the shaft is dead.

Like proplayer, I am one of those who prefer good quality, hard maple shafts over the predator 314.

I have predator shafts on a couple of my cues, and I thought I could get used to the feel of the shaft, plus the difference in aiming...but, I never could so I dont use the Predator shafts anymore.

I guess they are not for everyone.

i also prefer maple shafts....both of my cue sticks has maple shafts. ;)

The dominator shaft that came with my Dominiak cues is wonderful I love it. I haven't played with the regular shaft from Dominiak but from playing with my Lucasi and then playing with my Dominiak there is a big difference.it would be a little better if it wasn't a 13mm taper and more like a 12.5mm but im use to it already.
