Predator 8K-4, Vantage Shaft and InStroke Case

With all due respect, he writes "a little more" not just "little more".
So, at least in the opinion of tashworth19191, the Vantage shaft deflects (a little) more than a Predator 314-2.

The 314-2 definitely deflects more than a Z-2.

PREDATOR

"Predator ProV Taper

Finishing with a 12.9mm tip diameter, the all-new ProV taper provides unparalleled static stiffness, besting the 314-2 by 10 percent and the Z-2 by 30 percent. This increase in stiffness creates a stronger “spine” inside the Vantage shaft allowing for increased mass reduction at the front end.
"

it seems that they're focus is on stiffness and they won't be phasing out 314-2 due to the fact that it has less deflection than v-shaft...

hmmm, maybe a 12.5 Vantage shaft would be better than a 314-2

thanks

Wow! a vantage shaft!..

With all due respect..... "little more deflection?",

A) does it deflect MORE than 314-2 / Z2?
B) does it deflect LESS than 312-2 / Z2?

is it A or B?

if it's A then its an issue... coz i'm looking to buy a vantage shaft

It deflects more...Also after playing with it for awhile now, The shaft seems a little big for my taste.

Thanks dave...

Yes, As I mentioned it is stiffer. And on my test if has more deflection than the 314-2. I do think Predator focused on stiffness and not on deflection on the 314-2. The Vantage took me some time to get used too and I am still inconsistent when English is applied to cue ball. Had to learn to compensate more for squirt on this shaft.

Any chance that you would turn it down to 12.75 or 12.5?

I emailed predator and they said that it is allowed until 12.3mm, below that and warranty is gone..

And their engineers are on the process of testing if a lower diameter would improve the deflection..

Seems they introduced this shaft to address the people who say the 314 and z lines are too "whippy"? Anyway, nice looking cue and congrats!

Thanks.

No, I will play with it to get used to it.... I personally think that shaft diameter is a preference and you can get used to anything from 11mm to 14.5mm... I used to play with a custom Joss that had a 14mm shaft and it played very well. I have also played with z2 shafts (11.75mm) and they play well. So I think if you are good you can adjust your game to your stick.

I sent a Question to Predator about the Vantage deflection and Jani the rep - said the deflection was very close to the Z shaft. :( Reps always trying to sell lol.

So I am baffled... was looking forward to testing one - but maybe I will stick to my Mezz WD.

I tested on my table with slow motion video and it was good but not great. The 314-2 with one tip of english deflected .75 inches, but the Vantage deflected 1.75 inches. This was down 10 times and that is the average. I was using a medium slow stroke on samonis cloth on 8' table.
