I have noticed recently that there have been listings for the discontinued 1st generation 314 shafts on eBay and they are listed clearly as B-Grade. Does anyone know the differences between the "normal" 314 shafts and the B-Grade ones?

From what Predator says, only visual blemishes in the wood. It has nothing to do with poor construction quality; much like getting massive discounts from clothing stores if you spot a stain on a shirt on the rack.

Blemishes

Nothing at all wrong with the shaft and after you play with it for a whole bunch of hours, the shaft is so dirty that you won't recognize the blemishes. I own one of these shafts and cannot tell the difference when I switch from the regular 314 to the grade B 314.

So the "B" grade shaft sold for roughly $20-30 less than the regular 314? For that I guess I might as well spend the extra dough and get the "flawless" version.

I"ve seen several B-grade shafts and they're almost identical to the normal shafts. The only thing I don't like is the black band near the collar, denoting it's a B-grade shaft. I think the band is a bit ugly.

When I bought a predator cue 3k7 I bought a second shaft. Predator told me I could save $50 by purchasing a b grade shaft. It had a slight, very slight brown line about 1 inch long. That was it. It is exactly the same. I feel no difference. You can tell these b grades by a line on the shaft near the joint. The line is not on the collar.
