Predator BK2 J/B Cues - Were they ever sold?

I played a 9 ball match last Monday and the player I played had a Predator BK2 jump/break cue and he broke and jumped a couple of balls during the match as we'll or better than anyone I've played. He made balls on every break and made a couple of jump shots with ease. We played a race to 9 and he broke and ran 4 racks and broke and shot a combo on the 9 ball to win the match on the hill. Five of the 9 games he won I sat in the chair. The only chance I had was one time he broke and made balls, but he hit the rack off center and the cue ball jumped off the table. I got ball in hand and ran down to the 9 and ended up with a tough shot on the 9 and I jarred it into the corner pocket and of course lost that game also. He beat me 9-1 and really the only game I won was the first game where he made a mistake and scratched and basically gave that game to me. I broke and didn't make a ball and he proceeded to win 9 in a row. The games he didn't win from the break I was kicking each time I went to the table.

Awesome performance and I have to find out something about that break cue he was using. The racks that he ran were so easy due to the spread after he broke that most of us could have run them with ease. I've never seen Preadator J/B cues for sale, but if there's a way to get one I will buy it on the spot! He broke the balls as well as anyone I've ever played with that cue. If anyone has any info on Predator J/B cues I'd love to here about it. I should have asked him after the match, but there was a high stakes (3 dimes on a bar table) match after we played and I didn't get a chance to talk to him about his cue, but I will for sure next week.

Predator never made a Jump/Break. I would guess that the player in question had a standard BK2 converted by someone.

However, Predator's other company, Poison, makes Jump/Break cues. It would be hard to confuse the two, though. Poison jump/breaks are miles apart from a plain black BK2 with a big Predator logo.

Shane is correct in that the BK2 was never offered as a J/B cue.
I've converted many BKs to J/B cues for Seyberts and have done several 'on the side'.
I use the Uni-QR pin set and install blk. phenolic collars on each side of the jnt.
If the guy lets you look at his cue, you might determine if I did the conversion.
It's probably safe to say that there are other CMs out there doing the same thing.

HTHs, KJ

If the guy ran out 4 racks out of 9 in the set, I'm thinking his breaking ability was not from the break cue he was using.

This has been a focus for me the past few months. It is not the break cue. SVB was breaking 10 in 2007 that was unmatched even by his leading break today. Then he breaking with his cheap playing stick (today he's using a cuetech). There no simple equipment fix.

The most important shot is the break and that is dictated by your break shot and the rack. A good tight rack with a controlled, duplicated break repeatable layout. This was never clearer than the 9ball tar match with svb and Corey. Both repeatedly duplicated amazingly the same layout (at least until they changed their racking order).

This takes practice and there are some helpful tools...
1-svb break video
2-Breakrak is essential (still not the simple fix, but this is more important than any money spent on a break stick)
3-Joe Tucker and Dr Dave breaking tips
4-YouTube video (but, be careful, also bad info out there). Study matches the most.
5-Practice to learn. You're break deserve equal attention to the rest of your entire game. Don't remember where, but I was amazed at how long SVB said he practiced his break by percentage. But, you have to do more than hit'em hard. Study everything on every table you can.

It is amazing how much your game improves when you begin every match with a good layout.

Wish this was a shorter post. I don't read long ones like this one.

Thanks for the info fellows and to tell the truth it wouldn't matter what kind of break cue I had I still couldn't break as well as my opponent did in that match. He's easily one of if not the best player in Charleston, SC. He hasn't played much pool the last year or so and I thought I might have a chance in the match. It didn't seem like the long layoff slowed his game down much at all. We all know the break in 9 ball is the biggest shot in the game and he has one of the biggest breaks I've seen in a long time and this leads to so many opportunities for him to run racks. I know if he let me use his break cue and he used mine he'd probably still break and play like he did. After our match he played another player in my league a race to 9 for $50 and he ran 5 racks in that set. I wish the guy he played had talked to me first and I could have saved him $50. He had no chance to win that match.
