M16x1.5I need to re-tap the bumper threads for a Predator cue.
Is there a tap I can buy for this?
I count 16 tpi.
Thanks Mike.M16x1.5
Wish I had the right answer for you. My taps say M16x1x5Searched the forum for the Predator QR bumper thread size and came across this thread (and one or two others) that said it was M16x1.5. Went to the local hardware store and tried screwing the QR bumper into a M16x1.5 nut and the nut was too small. I tried the same with a M18x1.5 nut and it fits perfectly. Why the discrepancy? Am I using a different bumper than was is being mentioned in this thread?
How many m16x1.5 taps do you have? Leads are nice but not necessary. The bumper threads are slightly undersized. If someone made an M16x1.5 that was undersized and had a follower on it to keep it straight, they might sell a few.
I have one. It wanders sometimes. I've been making phenolic inserts and truing up the OD with the piece on the tap in the lathe, this gives me really nice threads that are dead centered.Leads are nice but not necessary.
The inside of the bushing looks nice,I have one. It wanders sometimes. I've been making phenolic inserts and truing up the OD with the piece on the tap in the lathe, this gives me really nice threads that are dead centered.

Since 1999, I never put a glue groove in anything.Did you add glue grooves to the outside of the bushing, or as the picture shows
Interesting. Thank youSince 1999, I never put a glue groove in anything.
I've cut glue relief slots when they are needed but never made grooves to try and help the glue adhere. If I think the glue will fail, it needs threaded.
